국립치의학연구원 천안 설립을 추진하고 있는 충남 천안시가 관련 근거 법안인 보건의료기술진흥법일부 개정안이 지난 23일 국회 소관 상임위원회 법안심사소위를 통과함에 따라 대통령 충남공약인 ‘국립치의학연구원 천안 설립’이 6부 능선을 넘었다고 밝혔다.

국회 보건복지위 법안심사소위는 보건의료기술진흥 개정안 2건, 치의학산업육성법 1건 등 3개 법안을 병합해 의결했다. 

3개 법안은 국내 치의학 분야 연구 활성화를 위한 국립치의학연구원 설치 등 내용을 담고 있다. 

그동안 천안시는 국립치의학연구원 설립 근거 법안 개정을 위해 지역 국회의원과 유기적 협조체제를 강화하고, 국회, 국무조정실, 보건복지부 등을 여러 차례 방문하는 등 법안 개정 촉구를 적극 건의해 왔다.

앞으로 법안소위를 통과한 법안은 보건복지위원회 전체회의, 법제사법위원회, 본회의 의결 등을 거치게 된다.
