충남 아산시가 ‘아트밸리 아산 신정호 썸머 페스티벌’ 2일째인 12일, 신정호 호수공원 이순신 장군 동상 앞에 마련된 워터슬라이드에서 ‘이순신 물총대첩’을 펼쳤다. 

이날 오후 1시부터 진행된 ‘이순신 물총대첩’ 개막 퍼포먼스에는 500여 명이 참여한 가운데 아산시를 점령한 ‘왜군 좀비’와 이를 물리치는 ‘조선 수군’의 한판 대결을 재연했다. 

특히 아이들은 무더위를 날리는 물총 싸움을 통해 왜군을 물리치며 역사 공부와 함께, 이순신 장군의 업적을 다시 기리는 계기가 됐다. 가족 단위 참가자 남녀노소 모두 동심의 세계로 돌아간 시간이었다.

퍼포먼스가 마무리될 때는 ‘협동조합 와트’와 ‘아산위드댄스’의 축하 댄스공연도 펼쳐져 청소년 참가자들의 호응을 얻었다. 

박경귀 아산시장은 “‘이순신 물총대첩’에 참여한 시민 모두 물놀이 안전에 유의해달라”며, 마음껏 축제를 즐기고 잊지 못할 여름 추억을 만들어 가길 바란다”고 당부했다.

한편 워터슬라이드는 축제가 열리는 5일 내내 오전 10시~오후 5시까지 운영되며, ‘이순신 물총대첩’은 12일·13일·15일(오후 1~3시)에 열린다.
