논산시가 추진하고 있는‘국방국가산업단지’ 조성계획이 관계기관 인허가 협의를 마치고 10월 최종 심의만을 앞두면서 청신호가 들어왔다.

논산 국방국가산단은 2019년 8월 국토부로부터 국가산단 조성 후보지로 선정되었으며 2020년 예비타당성조사를 통과하고. 이후 논산시는 2022년 8월 국방국가산단 조성계획 승인 신청서를 제출했다. 

이어 작년 12월 농림부 농지전용 협의를 완료했으며, 금년 7월 실시된 행안부 재해영향평가 및 8월 환경부 환경영향평가를 끝으로 사전 행정협의 절차를 마쳤다. 

오는 9월 중앙산업단지계획심의위원회의 심의가 이뤄지면 10월경 최종적인 산업단지 계획이 공식적으로 승인ㆍ고시된다. 시 관계자는 사업 인정에 관한 주민의견을 청취해가며 행정 절차를 이상 없이 마무리할 계획이라 밝혔다.

백성현 논산시장은 지난해 민선 8기 출범 이후 농림축산식품부ㆍ국방부 등 관계부처 실무진을 직접 만나가며 ‘행정 처리상의 급진전’을 이뤄냈다. 백 시장은 “신속정확한 실무 협의가 요구되는 상황 속에서 관계부처와의 긴밀한 소통을 위해 부단히 노력했다”며 “국방국가산단을 중심으로 논산의 대혁신을 모색함은 물론 대한민국의 국방력 향상에 이바지하겠다”고 말했다.

한편 논산시 연무읍 동산리ㆍ죽본리 일원에 약 870,177㎡ 규모로 생겨날 논산 국방국가산단은 총사업비 1,917억 원이 투입되는 대규모 산단이다. 시는 산단의 경제적 생산유발효과를 2,200억 원, 부가가치 유발효과를 864억 원, 일자리 창출 효과는 약 2천 명에 이를 것으로 관측하고 있다.
