저출생·고령화 등으로 지속되는 농촌지역 인구감소에 대응하기 위한 방안으로 홍성군이 안간힘을 쓰고 있다.

이를 위해 홍성군은 출생 장려와 전입자 지원을 통해 인구 증가를 유도하고자 기존 지원 중인 출산축하금과 학생전입축하금을 7월 1일부터 확대 시행한다고 밝혔다.

홍성군이 밝힌 출산축하금은 첫째아 200만원→500만원(일시금), 둘째아 400만원→1000만원(500만원씩 2년간), 셋째아 600만원→1500만원(500만원씩 3년간), 넷째아 1000만원→2000만원(400만원씩 5년간), 다섯째아 3000만원(600만원씩 5년간)으로 분할하여 대폭 증액 지원한다.

또한 기존 고등학생, 대학생에 지원하던 학생전입축하금도 중학생까지 대상을 확대하여 전입 시 20만원, 졸업 시까지 주소 유지 6개월마다 20만원을 추가 지급하여 최대 120만원(3년 재학 기준)까지 지원하게 되었다.

출산축하금의 지원대상은 출생신고 이후 3개월이 되는 날까지 군에 주민등록을 둔 출산 가정으로 올해 2023년 1월 1일 이후 출생아부터 소급 지원하며, 올해 기 지원된 출산 가정의 소급분은 별도의 신청 없이 7월 중 소급 지원될 예정이다.
