황인호 대전 동구청장이 30일 오전 동구청 대강당에서 퇴임식을 갖고 민선7기 4년간 구정의 마침표를 찍었다.

지난 1998년 지방선거에서 대전 동구의회 의원으로 정치에 입문한 황인호 구청장은 대전광역시의회 의원을 거쳐 지난 2018년 7월 민선7기 제8대 대전 동구청장으로 취임한 바 있다.

황인호 구청장은 취임 이후, 코로나19라는 사상 초유의 어려운 여건 속에서도 △대전역 주변 혁신도시 지정 △국토부 도시재생 선도사업 후보지 선정 △천사의 손길, 대한민국 브랜드 대상 등의 쾌거를 이뤄냈다.

황 청장은 이러한 성과들을 인정받아 2년 연속 자치구 종합평가 최우수 수상(2018~19), 대한민국 자치발전 대상(2020) 등의 영예를 안았다.

이날 개최된 퇴임식에는 황인호 구청장의 지난 발자취를 엮은 영상 상영을 비롯해 퇴임사, 공로패 전달, 기념촬영 등의 순으로 진행됐다.

황인호 구청장은 “4년간의 시간 동안 23만 구민들을 위해 밤낮없이 뛰며 동구 발전을 위해 노력해왔다”며 “이제 구청장이 아닌 한 사람의 동구 주민으로 돌아가 지역사회 발전을 위해 소명을 다할 것”이라고 말했다.

한편, 이날 개최된 황인호 구청장의 퇴임식은 본인의 의사대로 직원들과 일부 주민들이 함께한 가운데 소박하고 검소한 분위기 속에 진행됐다.
