[Chungcheongnam-do prepares a foothold for high added value in the hot spring industry]

Chungcheongnam-do is speeding up the value-added hot spring industry.

On the 7th, Chungnam Province, which has geographical and environmental advantages such as excellent accessibility to the metropolitan area and high-efficiency hot spring resources, secured a total of 9.9 billion won from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy's spa (onsen)-linked rehabilitation health care field contest with two projects selected one after another. said.

In the meantime, the provincial government has been promoting a leading spa-related specialization project through a public offering project from the Ministry of Industry since 2020 as the need for gradual industrialization in the field of spa-linked rehabilitation health care has emerged based on the leading hot springs in the region, such as Asan, Onyang, Dogo, and Deoksan.

The projects selected this time are ‘empirical-based spa-linked rehabilitation health care safety certification and industry advancement support project’ and ‘5G-based smart wearable device and service platform development project for spa facilities’, which are expected to serve as a stepping stone for advancement of the spa-related industry.

The demonstration-based spa-linked rehabilitation health care safety certification and industry advancement support project was selected as a new planning task of the 'Smart Specialization Foundation Construction Project' hosted by the Ministry of Industry, and 4.8 billion won in government expenditure for three years from 2023 to 2025, supervised by the Health Spa Industry Promotion Agency. 8 billion won will be invested in the total project cost including Won Won.

The main content is to advance the industry by establishing a high-quality corporate support system, such as production of prototypes in response to changes in the digital industry environment and support for high value-added and demand-oriented technologies.

In this regard, the provincial government plans to develop the base center under construction in the Yeomchi General Industrial Complex in Asan as a base for strengthening corporate competitiveness by linking the project with the ‘Healing Spa-based Rehabilitation Health Care Diversification Project’.

The 5G-based smart wearable device and service platform development project for spa facilities was selected as a new task of the ‘biohealth R&D project’ hosted by the Ministry of Industry.

It is supervised by the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology and will invest 6.1 billion won in total project cost, including 5.1 billion won in the national budget, for five years from this year to 2026.

This project is linked with the 'web-based rehabilitation health care device industry-customized full-cycle support platform' built through the 'user-centered rehabilitation health care device platform construction project'. Is expected.

In addition, it is planning to create a synergistic effect by developing a wearable sensor device that can measure the body information of spa users, building a service platform for medical demonstration of spa efficacy, and applying it to base centers.
