회의를 주재한 윤호중 중앙당 상임선대위원장은 “국민의힘은 막말 쌍두마차인 이장우 후보와 김태흠 후보를 공천해서 충청인의 자부심을 짓밟았다”며 “차마 입에 담을 수도 없는 막말 후보, 범법자 후보에게 충청의 미래를 맡길 수 없다. 지금까지 힘들게 쌓아 온 충청 발전의 모든 탑이 한순간에 허물어질까 걱정”이라고 지적했다.
