[Korea Electric Power Research Institute completes MG EMS for industrial complex in Vietnam]

KEPCO Electric Power Research Institute (President Lee Jung-ho) announced that it held the 『MG EMS Completion Ceremony for Industrial Complexes』 with TKG Taekwang Vina Co., Ltd. in Vietnam on May 19th.

According to the researcher, the completion ceremony was held in front of the micro-grid (MG: Micro-grid) infrastructure facility built in TKG Taekwang Vina Industrial Complex, a Vietnam demonstration site.

About 15 people attended the event, including Lee Jung-ho, head of KEPCO's Electric Power Research Institute, Nam Jeong-dae, CEO of TKG Taekwang, Vina, Joo Dong-shik, director of Green Energy Research Institute, Lee Myung-woo, managing director of Open Technology, and Han Ki-beom, vice president of A2M.

The Korea Electric Power Research Institute has developed a “KEPCO single solution” based on the integration of its existing microgrid platform technology, smart energy campus, energy management system (K-BEMS), and distributed power management system (MiDAS). In addition, in order to discover and verify the export model of overseas business to which this “KEPCO single solution” is applied, the Korea Electric Power Research Institute conducted research from 2018 to 2022, it said.

The researcher explained that the MG EMS technology built in an industrial complex in Vietnam is a technology that connects DC-based distributed power and energy storage devices with DC-Grid to enable free power trade and smooth power distribution between each other.

The Korea Electric Power Research Institute has completed the verification of the new business model through the establishment of the industrial complex microgrid infrastructure and MG EMS. He explained that it is a form of monetization of expenses.

The head of KEPCO's Electric Power Research Institute said, "Through the completion of MG EMS, we have successfully completed verification of a new business model that shares profits from electricity bills reduced by microgrids for the first time in the world." We will lead the expansion of the microgrid business to Central and South America and Southeast Asia including,” he added.
