충남도립대학교(총장 김용찬)가 글로벌 인재 양성을 위해 캐나다 주요 대학과 협력체계를 구축했다.

충남도립대에 따르면 김용찬 총장을 비롯한 김나희 국제교류센터장, 대학 관계자 등이 7박 9일의 일정으로 캐나다로 출국했다고 밝혔다.

이번 캐나다 방문은 해외대학 및 산업체와의 교류를 통해 복수학위제, 인턴십, 어학연수 등 재학생들이 폭넓은 글로벌 저변을 확대하기 위해 추진됐다.

김 총장은 지난 16일 셀크 컬리지(SELC College)와 업무협약(MOU)을 맺고 학점 교환을 포함한 학생을 교류하기로 했다.

특히 호텔조리제빵학과, 작업치료학과와 글로벌 프로그램을 연구‧연계하기로 하는 내용을 협약서에 담았다.

셀크 컬리지는 1985년 호주 시드니에 처음 설립됐으며, 2012년 밴쿠버 설립된 이래 소규모 집중수업을 포커스로 많은 학생의 영어실력 향상과 코업 프로그램으로 스펙업을 추진하고 있다.

17∼18일에는 119년 전통을 가진 스프롯-쇼 대학(Sprott-shaw college)과 존카사블랑카 대학(John Casablancas Institute) 관계자를 만나 복수학위 및 인턴십 과정을 논의했다.

충남도립대와 스프롯-쇼는 지난 2013년부터 복수학위제를 진행하고 있으며, 이번 논의에서는 더 많은 재학생이 복수학위에 참여하고, 내실있는 글로벌 프로그램을 개발하는 데 초점을 맞췄다.

충남도립대는 지난 18∼19일 양일간 ITD Canada(Institute of Technology Development of Canada)와 캐나다 내 3개 캠퍼스를 보유한 탬우드컬리지(Tamwood college), 취업전문 법무법인 회사인 CanNest Immigration Consulting와도 각각 MOA, MOU를 체결했다.

밴쿠버 다운타운에 소재한 ITD는 아트와 IT에 특화된 직업 훈련 교육기관이다. 충남도립대는 건축인테리어학과, 컴퓨터공학과, 호텔조리제빵학과 등과 프로그램 연계를 통해 글로벌 취업 무대를 확장한다는 계획이다.

탬우드컬리지와는 호텔경영학과 경영학, 웹 개발 및 디자인 특화 대학으로, 향후 충남도립대 호텔조리제빵학과, 컴퓨터공학과, 전기전자공학과 등과 프로그램을 연계, 복수학위 및 인턴십 등을 추진키로 했다.

캐나다 이민 및 취업 전문 법률 회사인 CanNest와는 취업 비자와 영주권 신청 관련 법률을 지원하는 데 상호 협력하기로 했다.
 
김용찬 총장은 “글로벌 인재를 지속적으로 양성하기 위해 교육 프로그램 교류를 더욱 활발히 진행하고, 해외 취업 확대 및 경쟁력 강화를 위해 더욱 힘쓰겠다”며 “재학생들이 세계 넓은 무대로 발을 디딜 수 있도록 역할을 하겠다”고 말했다.

한편 충남도립대는 1999년 일본 벳부여자 단기대학과 우호교류를 시작으로 영국 전문직업교육대학 학술교류(2000년), 싱가포르(2012년), 필리핀(2015년), 캐나다 등 주요 대학과 MOU를 체결한 바 있다.
