한국산림복지진흥원(이하 진흥원)이  내달 2일 서울 코엑스에서 열리는 세계산림총회에서 ‘숲과 건강의 연계성 강화를 위한 국제심포지엄’을 개최한다.

이번 심포지엄에는 한국, 미국, 캐나다, 스웨덴 등 각국의 산림치유 전문가가 참여해 ‘인간의 건강과 웰빙을 위한 숲’이라는 주제로 발표와 토론을 진행한다.

발표는 인요한 박사(천리포수목원 이사장·연세대 세브란스병원 국제진료센터 소장)의 기조연설을 시작으로, 미치코 마틴 관리관(미국 산림청), 왕광규 교수(캐나다 UBC대학), 테리 하티그(스웨덴 Uppsala대학), 이경민 박사(한국산림복지진흥원) 등의 전문가 발표가 이어진다.

또, 지속적인 산림복지 발전 논의와 협력을 위해 진흥원과 미국 산림청을 비롯한 5개 기관은 공동 업무협약을 체결한다.

업무 협약기관은 한국산림복지진흥원, 한국산림치유포럼, 미국 산림청, 미국 Conservation Conexion, UBC 아시아 센터 등이다.

심포지엄과 업무협약을 통해 감염병과 환경 문제에 대응하는 숲의 역할에 주목하고, 효과성 검증을 위한 세계 각국의 노력을 공유함으로써 고도화된 산림복지·산림치유 서비스를 확산할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

이창재 원장은 “세계산림총회 동안 개최되는 심포지엄을 통해 숲과 건강의 연계성 강화하고 우리나라의 산림복지와 산림치유를 세계적으로 확산할 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”라고 밝혔다.

이 행사는 현장과 온라인(유튜브 ‘산림복지TV’)에서 함께 진행되며, 세계산림총회 누리집에서 회원가입과 접수를 통해 현장 참여가 가능하다.
