Daejeon City Councilman Hong Jong-won (Jung-gu 2, Minjoo Party) took active measures such as the removal of the Mokcheok Bridge sculpture to improve the urban environment of the original downtown Jungang-ro through a five-minute free speech at the first plenary session of the 263th Extraordinary Session of the Daejeon Metropolitan City Council on the 18th. requested to

In a five-minute free speech, Assemblyman Hong Jong-won said, “I expected Daejeon to play a role as a landmark by installing a 73-meter-long and 13-meter-high sculpture symbolizing tree trunk cells on Mokcheok Bridge in 2010. Residents claim that they are obstructing the openness and continuity of the view of Daejeoncheon Stream and the streetscape of Jungang-ro, and are rather becoming a stumbling block to the urban environment.”

He continued, “The city of Daejeon will take active measures, such as the removal of the Mokcheok Bridge, to improve the urban environment of the original downtown Jungang-ro by resolving the disconnection of the streetscape of Jungang-ro and securing a sense of openness by actively collecting and reflecting the opinions of local merchants and residents. I will do it,” he ordered.
