오는 6월 전국동시지방선거에 대전시장 도전 의사를 밝힌 박성효 전 시장이 "3000만 그루 나무심기로 기후위기 정책를 펼쳤다"고 말했다.

 

5일 신년 인사차 대전시의회 기자실을 찾은 박 전 시장은 시장 출마를 묻는 질문에 자신이 시장 재임시절 펼친 정책을 말하면서 이같이 밝혔다.

 

이어진 발언에서 박 전 시장은 "대전서 살앗고 평생 대전시에서 계장부터 시장까지 안해본 보직 없이 대전시에서 일을 했다"고 말하고 "누구보다 시를 잘알고 애정이 많다고 자부 한다"고 말했다.

 

이어 시장 재임시절과 관련해 "제가 시장이 되기 전뿐만 아니라 시장 4년동안 나름대로 최선을 다해서 대전시 미래를 위해서 열심히 공직자들과 성과를 내면서 일 했다고 자부 한다"고 재임시절을 회상했다.

 

박 전 시장은 또 "무지개 프로잭트라는 전국에서 처음하는 정책을 통해서 힘들고 어려운 분들의 도지재생을 돕는것도 시행 했다"고 말하고 그 성과의 하나로 "(중앙데파트 와 홍명상가)를 30년여 만에 철거하면서 재해위험을 덜어내고, 원도심을 활성화 하고, (그런 일이) 3대하천을 살리는 기폭제가 되도록 한 경험 있다"고도 말했다.

 

이어진 발언에서는 "시장 임기 4년간 시청공무원과 함께한 일이 자랑스럽다"고 밝힌 박 전 시장은 "170여회 수상하고 상타면 주는 인센티브로 250억원을 확보 했다"며 그 당시 함께한 공직자들에게 감사의 뜻을 전했다.


"대전도 새로 성장해야 하는데 여건 어렵다"고 말한 그는 "새 대전의 성장동력을 만들기 위해 작은 힘이나마 지금까지 가진 애정과 경험 이런 것들을 가지고 기여할 수 있는 기회가 주어 진다면 마지막 봉사라는 개념으로 해야겠다고 준비하고 있다"는 말로 시장 출마 의지를 전했다.

 

박 전 시장은 당내 경선과 시장 출마 결심 이유에 대해서는 "당에도 훌륭한 분들이 시장에 대한 관심 가지고 노력하고 있는 것이 바람직 할 것"이라며 "후보들이 많으면 그만큼 외연이 커져서 대선에도 도움되지 않을까 싶고, 그분들도 정치경력 많은데 합리적인 경쟁을 통해서 시민들과 당원들에게 선정 받는다면 합리적 절차니까 다 환영할 것으로 보인다"는 입장을 밝혔다.

 

그는 이어 "3월 9일 대선이 있고 6월 1일 지방선거일정이 있는데, 다 아시는 것 처럼 대선이 가장 중요하고, 그게 나라의 운명을 결정하는 제일 큰 일이기 때문에 국가 운명을 국민이 손으로 결정하는게 3월 9일 이라, 그 큰일 매진하는 것이 다같은 입장이라 생각한다"고 말해 대선에 집중 할 뜻을 내비쳤다.
