국민의힘 윤석열 후보 대전시선대위 장동혁 공동선대위원장(대전 유성구갑 당협위원장)이 '정권교체 열망의 불씨, 충청의 힘으로 다시 시작'을 기치로 여의도까지 도보 대장정의 길을 나섰다.

국민의힘 전 대전시당위원장을 지낸 장 위원장은 24일 오전 09시 30분 국립대전현충원 참배를 시작으로 첫 도착 예정지 세종시와 청주시-천안시-평택시-수원시를 거쳐 31일 여의도 를 최종 목적지로 도보 대장정을 떠났다.

장 위원장은 사전에 여의도까지 걷는 과정에서 만나는 대전, 충청인을 비롯한 정권교체를 열망하는 국민의 목소리를 담아 윤석열 후보 캠프에 전달할 예정이라고 알렸었다.

장 위원장은 이날 출발에 앞서 성명서를 발표하면서 “민주당은 윤석열 후보자 검증으로 건질것이 없다고 판단했는지 배우자로 화살을 돌렸고, 민주당이 후보 배우자 흔들기에 재미 들려있는 사이 우리는 새로운 내홍을 겪고 있다”고 말하고 “지지율도 내려앉았다. 짧은 기간이지만 거듭되는 진통을 겪고 있다고 판단해 누에고치를 벗고 화려하고 튼튼한 날개를 자랑하는 호랑나비로 다시 태어날 것을 믿어 의심치 않는다”는 말로 이번 도보행진에 대한 의미를 부여했다.

그러면서 “갈등으로 보이는 현 상황을 빠른 시일 안에 확고히 매듭짓기 위해서는 중심이 굳건하고 올바르게 서야 한다. 그 중심이 대전, 충청이길 바란다”며 “대전·충청이 먼저 중심에 우뚝 서서 윤석열 후보가 대선 승리로 가는 길을 열어주길 바란다”고 대전 충청에 호소했다.

장 위원장은 “정권교체에 대한 열망을 실현시키기 위해 새로운 바람을 불러올 방법으로 내가 속해있는 대전·충청에서 먼저 찾고 싶다”며 “그래서 대전에서 충청을 거쳐 윤석열 후보 캠프까지 걸으며 충청인의 의견을 듣고 이를 후보에게 전달하려 한다”고 말해 다양한 의견을 전달할 것임을 강조했다.

장동혁 위원장은 “나 하나가 어떠한 힘이 될 것이라는 생각은 없지만 나부터 국민의 뜻을 표현하는 작은 지푸라기라도 되어야겠다는 절박함이 있다”며 간절한 마음을 표현하고 “대전·충청을 시작으로 국민의 마음과 열망이 다시 한곳으로 모이길 뚜벅뚜벅 두 발로 기원하고자 한다”고 의지를 밝혔다.
