대전시가 최신 보안기술이 적용된 전자여권을 발급 한다.

대전시는 오는 21일부터 보안성·내구성이 강화된 폴리카보네이트(polycarbonate, PC) 타입의 차세대 전자여권을 발급한다고 밝혔다.

새롭게 발급되는 차세대 전자여권은 표지 색상이 녹색에서 남색으로 변경되며, 사증 면수를 기존 24면은 26면으로, 48면은 58면으로 증가됐다.

사증면에는 우리 문화유산을 활용한 디자인을 적용했으며, 주민등록번호 뒷번호 표기 제외, PC타입 개인정보면 도입 등 다양한 최신 보안요소들이 적용되었다.

새로운 여권은 갈수록 고도화되는 위·변조 기술에 대응이 가능하며, 해외에서 우리 국민들의 신분보호를 강화하고 출입국 절차를 편리하게 개선하는데 도움이 될 것으로 기대된다. 

이외에도 우편배송을 희망할 경우 대행기관을 거치지 않고 여권제작기관에서 희망주소지로 바로 배송하여 여권 수령시간이 절약되는 서비스도 새롭게 도입된다.

차세대 전자여권 도입 후에도 기존에 발급받은 전자여권은 유효기간 만료까지 사용할 수 있다.

향후 여권법 시행령이 개정되면, 기존 여권 재고를 활용하여 유효기간 5년 미만의 여권을 저렴한 수수료(15,000원)로 발급받을 수도 있게 된다.
