[ark Yong-gap, mayor of the district, starts his fourth year of work in response to COVID-19]

Jung-gu mayor Park Yong-gap started his last year as district mayor by visiting the Jung-gu public health center screening clinic and COVID-19 vaccination center on the 1st to encourage his staff.

On this day's schedule, Commissioner Park Yong-gap and newly appointed Deputy Commissioner Cho Seong-bae attended, inspecting internal and external facilities at the site and expressing gratitude for the hard work of medical staff and officials.

In addition, Commissioner Park expressed his gratitude to public officials who have been doing their best to respond to COVID-19 over the past year and six months. In order to respond to COVID-19, Jung-gu has built the first walking-through system in Daejeon City, established a tight quarantine network such as the operation of an epidemiological investigation team, and confirmed the implementation of each company according to the change in social distancing phases, and provided disaster aid, small business subsidy, and local jobs to residents. A systematic operation system has been established, such as promptly and accurately implementing various policies for this purpose ▲operating a team dedicated to self-quarantine management ▲priority vaccination for the elderly in each neighborhood.

Commissioner Park said, “After the outbreak of COVID-19, there were many difficulties in Jung-gu. In particular, the group infection at the IEM International School was the biggest incident.” He said, “If the initial response, such as prompt testing, separation of confirmed and non-confirmed cases, and blocking contact between confirmed students and parents, had not been successful, it would have had a huge impact.” "We will do our best to prevent the spread of infectious diseases in the future," he urged.

On the other hand, Jung-gu did not hold a separate event to commemorate the 11th anniversary of his inauguration, but replaced it with a tea time with an executive level civil servant. In the meantime, we have in-depth discussions about the achievements and remaining tasks, and also talked about future implementation plans.

Commissioner Park said, “For the development of Jung-gu, we have been operating the district administration with the goal of revitalizing the original downtown and building a center for filial piety culture.” “Cultural flow middle school road construction project, Daeheung-dong alleyway regeneration project, re-creation project around Wooridul Park, and Yangji The representative projects are the Neighborhood Park Creation Project, the Seonhwa-ro Expansion Project, and the Seonhwa-dong Art and Romantic Street.”

He continued, “Through the Root Park Complex 2 Project and the Filial Piety Culture Root Festival, we tried to create a center of filial piety culture where young people grow with upright character.” “The Daejeon Hyo Culture Roots Festival was held six times in recognition of its value. It was selected as a promising national festival and ranked 5th out of 775 festivals as a result of national festival brand reputation in 2019. In addition, as a result of evaluating about 1,000 local festivals nationwide, it was selected as a global excellent festival recommended for foreigners in 2020, and was selected as one of the 100 notable untact tourist destinations by the Korea Tourism Organization in 2020. It was the only place in Daejeon to be named among the 25 non-face-to-face safe tourist destinations in the '2021 summer non-face-to-face safe tourist destinations' hosted by ." He said, "It is very meaningful as it is expressed in various achievements."

In addition, the remaining key tasks were ▲redevelopment/reconstruction ▲urban regeneration new deal project (Jungchon-dong, Yucheon-dong, Seokgyo-dong) ▲dong administrative welfare center construction ▲health center green remodeling ▲city convergence special zone project promotion ▲Jung-gu government office renewal project, etc.

Mayor Park said, “I will do my best not to neglect the responsibilities and duties entrusted to the development of Jung-gu for the rest of the year as mayor of the district. I will do everything in my power to the end so that the residents will remember me,” he said.
