충남 천안시가 그동안 제한적으로 운영했던 경로당 741개소를 내달 5일부터 전면 개방한다고 밝혔다.

시는 코로나19 확산방지를 위해 지난 3월부터 시간제(13시~17시)로 경로당을 운영해왔으나, 백신 접종률이 높아짐에 따라 백신 접종을 완료한 어르신들의 일상회복 지원을 위해 다음달 5일부터 경로당을 전일제로 개방하기로 했다.

시에 따르면 관내 경로당 중 49.7%가 현재 운영 중이며, 천안시 65세 이상 어르신 가운데 1차 백신 접종자 비율은 81%(6.23 기준)로 확인됐다.

시는 휴관 중인 경로당은 운영 재개 전 사전 방역을 실시하고 방문 대장과 체온계, 손소독제 등 방역물품을 비치해 어르신들이 안심하고 경로당을 이용할 수 있도록 할 계획이다.

그동안 시간제로 경로당을 이용하시는 어르신들은 1m 이상 거리두기,  마스크 착용, 발열 체크, 제한적 프로그램 참여, 경로당 내 음식물 섭취  금지 등 철저하게 방역지침을 준수해왔다.

박상돈 시장은 “경로당이 전일제 개방을 통해 코로나19 장기화로 힘드셨을 어르신들의 위로의 공간이자 여름철 무더위쉼터로서의 역할을 수행할 수 있게 돼 다행”이라며, “그동안 적극적인 방역과 백신접종에 협조해 주신 어르신들께 감사드리고 어르신들의 일상생활 복귀를 위해 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
