[Dong-gu, Daejeon, selected as'The Forest of Truth and Reconciliation']
The winner of the international design contest was selected for the Peace Park ¡°Forest of Truth and Reconciliation (tentative name),¡± being built around 12-2, Nangwol-dong, Dong-gu, Daejeon.
As a result of the international design competition held from September 11th to October 23rd, 587 teams from 78 countries applied for registration, of which 109 teams from 42 countries submitted their works.
Dong-gu, Daejeon, who selected the winning work on the 18th, was selected by the SGHS design company (CEO Jong-cheol Lee), which expressed the tragic event of the Korean War and the historical memories of the victims as a forest park through the first design review, technology review, and the second design review. 'Motonymic Juxtaposition' was finally selected as the winning work.
The winning work focused on comprehensively representing the spaces connected to the scene of the tragedy so that the next generation remembers and reflects on the darkest part of history. As the memorial spaces are arranged along the topography, and the surrounding forests are expanded and connected, visitors are contemplating. It was planned to be able to walk.
