On the 13th, Daejeon City held an intermediate demonstration of “NURI-VIEW,” a civil petition information system for the visually and deaf, at the Daejeon Information and Culture Industry Promotion Agency.

'NuReview', which appeared at the demonstration, is a kiosk equipped with artificial intelligence that provides information on complaints and measures of Daejeon according to the characteristics of the visually and deaf people.

In the case of visual or hearing impaired, when inquiring about civil petition information by voice or sign language, information is provided in voice or three-dimensional (3D) sign language, and for wheelchair users, the screen height can be adjusted and the menu is touched. It can be used by anyone, so anyone can use it.

The services provided include civil petition information in 4 areas, passport information in 6 areas, welfare information in 3 areas, government office information, emergency evacuation instructions, subway station information, and departure/arrival information.

The demonstration was attended by Cheol-mo Seo, Deputy Mayor of Daejeon City, Sang-yup Shin, Secretary for Institutional Reform of the Blue House, and officials from the Ministry of Public Administration and Security and the Korea Regional Information Development Institute.

Participants had the experience of requesting and receiving information from the sign language interpreter at the site for issuing passports, information on facilities for the disabled, and how to get to the department in charge of Daejeon City Hall through the sign language and voice they learned on the spot.

In addition, it also introduced a “mobile sign language video delivery system” built with “Nu Review” for the hearing impaired.

Daejeon City plans to complete the system construction by the end of this year, and install and operate it in the city hall (4 locations) and major subway stations (city hall station, Daejeon station).
