Sejong City announced plans to introduce additional electric refraction buses.

Sejong Mayor Lee Chun-hee said in a press briefing on the 29th that he plans to introduce an electric refracting bus, six more this year and two next year.

Electric refracted buses have a number of advantages, including not only 1.8 times more transport power than regular buses, but also reducing labor and fuel costs, and emitting less air pollutants and fine dust.

Sejong City currently operates four electric refracting buses on lines 900 and 990 each, but there is a difficulty in operating bus 990 between Osong and Banseok due to insufficient charging facilities (one in Daepyeong-dong).

In order to increase the efficiency of the operation of the electric refractive bus, Sejong City has converted and placed 2 electric refractive buses No. 990 into line 900, and additionally introduced 8 units (6 units in '20, 2 units in '21) and infrastructure ( It is planned to be operated by putting it on line 900 (new city center circulation), which is equipped with a dedicated road, a dedicated stop, and an electric charging station.

Mayor Lee also revealed that Sejong City was selected as the preferred negotiating local government in the “S-BRT Priority Signaling Technology and Safety Management Technology Demonstration Target Contest” conducted by the Metropolitan Area Transit Commission (Daegwang Committee).

S-BRT (Super-Bus Rapid Transit) is a top-of-the-line arterial express system that secures efficiency and competitiveness by introducing the advantages of urban rail systems such as priority signaling systems into buses. Sejong City is the existing BRT (Bus Rapid Transit: trunk line). Express bus system), a proposal was submitted in September to enhance the service by improving the vehicle operation and control signal system and introducing an advance fare payment system.

The market said that the total research fund for the S-BRT demonstration project is KRW 12.7 billion, and the research period is 2 years and 9 months (April 20 to December 22), and the Korea Railroad Research Institute oversees the research team. The Institute of Construction Technology and the University of Seoul announced that they are jointly conducting research and development.

On the other hand, the main contents of the demonstration project will be to carry out 8 detailed tasks in a total of 4 areas, including priority signal control technology and integrated signal technology development, and installation and demonstration of closed stops.

Sejong City announced that it is conducting preliminary coordination with the research team after the selection of the preferred negotiating local government, and Daekwang Commission plans to finalize the target city for the S-BRT Priority Signaling and Safety Management Technology Demonstration Competition in November.
