외계인(外界人)은 존재할까요? 항상 흥미를 유도하는 이 표현에는 지구는 우리 편, 지구 외부는 적이라는 암묵적인 적대감이 숨겨져 있습니다. 전 세계에서 활용하는 언어의 종류는 7천개가 넘는다고 합니다. 하나의 언어로 통일하면 모두에게 편리한데 그토록 많은 언어가 존재하는 이유는 무엇일까요? 바로 내편, 네 편을 가르려는 경계심 때문입니다. 또 부동산을 구입하면 반드시 등기를 마쳐야 마음이 놓이는 이유는 내 소유권의 경계를 확정하려는 욕망 때문입니다. 

이처럼 경계를 가르는 에너지를 무토(戊土)라 부르며 내편을 지키고 네 편을 밀어내고 물리치기에 이기적이고 배타적입니다. 심지어 죽음을 불사해서라도 자신의 경계를 지켜 내거나 타인의 경계를 무너뜨리고야 말겠다는 호전적이고 잔인한 태도를 감추지 않습니다. 역사상 가장 큰 규모의 원나라를 건국한 징기스칸 사주팔자는 무토(戊土)의 욕망을 뚜렷하게 드러냅니다.  

그의 사주에서 월간 경금(庚金)은 도끼 물상으로 을목(乙木) 생명체들을 강압적으로 다루고 포획하는 도구와 같습니다. 아울러 사주팔자에서 4개의 무토(戊土)는 타인의 경계를 무너뜨리고 취하겠다는 강한 호전성을 드러내기에 전 세계를 정복할 수 있었던 것입니다. 만약 무토(戊土)가 하나라면 경계를 가르고 편을 나누려는 욕망이 드러나지 않았을 것입니다.

흥미로운 점은 그가 중앙아시아와 서하, 서아시아, 동북아시아 등 대륙의 동쪽과 서쪽을 관통하는 정복과정에 카스피해, 흑해, 지중해, 황허강 등도 포함했던 이유는 결코 적군들의 목숨을 빼앗으려 했던 것이 아니라 년(年)에 있는 해수(亥水) 생명수를 두 개의 진토(辰土)에 끌어와서 무계 합(戊癸 合)으로 을목(乙木)의 성장을 촉진하려는 갈망 때문이었으리라 추측해봅니다.

을해(乙亥)를 제외한 경진(庚辰), 무진(戊辰), 무오(戊午)의 땅은 비록 넓다고 해도 매우 척박하기에 머나먼 나라들을 정복해서라도 필요한 생명수(계수, 亥水)를 끌어와 풍요로운 국가를 만들고 싶었는지도 모를 일입니다. 황량한 무토(戊土)의 땅에 계수(癸水)를 보충하여 을계무(乙癸戊)로 성장하고 경금(庚金) 열매를 수확하여 융성한 국가를 이루고야 말겠다는 의지가 그를 전쟁터로 이끌었던 것입니다.    

이 사주구조에는 임수(壬水) 생명수나 계수(癸水) 활력을 활용해서 을목(乙木)의 성장을 촉진하려는 의도가 전혀 없고 오로지 수많은 경계를 넘나들며 술미 형(戌未 刑)으로 상대를 제압하려는 욕망뿐입니다. 

위 사주의 주인공은 조폭으로 천억 대의 돈을 다루었지만 결국에는 사주팔자의 살기를 극복하지 못하고 교도소에 수감 되었습니다. 결국 동일한 무토(戊土)도 생명수를 활용하여 풍요로운 국가를 운영할 것인지, 아니면 생기를 제거하는 조폭으로 살아갈 것인지는 사주팔자 구조에 달렸습니다. 

필자는 계수(癸水) 일간입니다. 흥미롭게도 주변에 무토(戊土) 일간들이 가득합니다. 무토(戊土)와 계수(癸水)를 활용하여 풍요로운 삶을 원하는 듯합니다. 무계 합(戊癸 合의) 특징이 인연법으로 발현되는 것이 참으로 신기할 따름입니다.

이러한 계수(癸水)를 상징하는 설화가 있어 소개하면서 마무리 지을까 합니다.  

오지브웨족에게는 창조 설화가 전해진다. 동물과 식물, 인간 등 만물을 창조한 뒤 신은 마지막 고민에 빠졌다. 각각의 훌륭한 존재를 만들었으나 모두를 하나로 연결하는 것이 필요했다. 그렇지 않으면 저마다 잘나고 훌륭한 존재들이 서로를 파괴할 가능성이 크기 때문이었다. 

방법을 궁리하고 있는 신 앞에 거미 한 마리가 나타나 자신이 돕겠다고 말했다. 작은 거미는 자신의 몸에서 뽑아낸 가느다란 실로 세상의 모든 존재들을 이어서 전체를 연결하는 하나의 그물망을 만들었다. 그에 따라서 모든 창조물들이 보이지 않는 그물망 속에서 하나로 연결될 수 있었다. 신은 크게 기뻐했다. - “나는 왜 너가 아니고 나인가” 中 (류시화 엮음)
