국민의힘 대전광역시당이 제10대 대전시의회 첫 정례회 개회 당일 일본 국외 출장에 나선 더불어민주당 소속 시의원들을 향해 "시민의 명령을 내팽개친 오만한 처사"라며 강도 높게 비판했다.

국민의힘 대전시당은 4일 논평을 내고 "더불어민주당 서다운·김기흥·고재열 의원이 첫 정례회가 시작된 지난 1일 충청광역연합의회 차원의 해외 박람회 지원을 명분으로 일본 출길에 올랐다"며 "시민을 대신해 집행부를 감시하고 예산을 심사해야 할 의회 문을 열자마자 자리를 비웠다"고 지적했다.

시당은 대전시의회가 앞서 준비 부족을 이유로 상반기 국외출장 연수 예산 반납 방침을 밝힌 점을 들며, 이번 출장의 모순점을 조목조목 꼬집었다. 

대전시당은 "의회 스스로 '겉핥기식 연수'를 경계하며 예산을 반납하겠다고 해놓고, 정작 1인당 수백만 원의 혈세가 들어가는 회기 중 일본행은 강행했다"며 "개막식 참석과 만찬 등 단순 방문 위주의 일정에 혈세를 투입한 것이 겉핥기식 연수와 무엇이 다른가"라고 반문했다.

이어 국민의힘 소속 이한영 의원이 정례회 일정을 이유로 해당 일본 출장을 거절한 사례와 전문학 서구청장이 의회 참석을 위해 대통령 주재 회의에 불참한 정황을 비교하며 대의기관으로서의 책임감을 강조했다. 

대전시당은 "누군가는 시민에 대한 책무를 지켰고, 누군가는 회기 첫날 해외로 떠났다"며 "차이는 출장의 명분이 아니라 시민을 대하는 자세"라고 비판했다.

국민의힘 대전시당은 민주당 측에 해당 의원들의 출장 필요성과 경비 집행 내역, 구체적 성과를 시민 앞에 철저히 공개할 것을 요구했다. 아울러 시민의 혈세와 책무를 저버린 행태에 대해 당 차원의 책임 있는 조치와 함께 공식 사과를 촉구했다.
