충남 청양군이 당진시 일원에서 열리는 ‘제78회 충청남도민체육대회’에 참가해 종합 12위 달성을 목표로 4일간의 대장정에 들어갔다.

청양군은 대회 개막일인 3일 오후 청양다목적체육관에서 김홍열 청양군수를 비롯해 주요 내빈과 체육회 관계자, 출전 선수 등 150여 명이 참석한 가운데 선수단 결단식을 열었다. 결단식은 출전 상황 보고와 대표 선수 꽃목걸이 전달, 격려사, 선수 대표 선서 순으로 진행되어 선수들의 사기를 끌어올리고 단합을 다졌다.

이번 대회에 청양군은 정식 30개 종목과 시범 2개 종목 등 총 32개 종목에 선수 462명, 임원 189명 등 총 651명의 역대 최대 규모 선수단을 파견했다. 청양군 선수단은 그동안 다져온 훈련 성과를 바탕으로 지난 대회의 성적을 뛰어넘어 종합 12위에 안착하겠다는 구상이다.
