국립공주대학교 스마트의료웰니스관광대학원이 충남 공주시 소재 복합 치유공간 '힐스포레'와 산학협력(MOU)을 체결하고, 국내 최초로 뇌과학 기반 치유관광사업자 등록 절차에 착수했다. 

이번 협약은 K-MediWell 브랜드의 글로컬화와 치유관광산업 선도를 위한 핵심 전략 거점을 확보했다는 점에서 주목받고 있다.

이번 프로젝트는 지난 4월 9일 시행된 ‘치유관광산업육성에 관한 법률’에 근거해 힐스포레를 ‘치유관광 제1호 관광지’로 지정하기 위한 공간 기획의 일환이다. 

공주대 이용근 교수는 이곳을 한국 전통 의학 철학인 ‘전일의학’과 다섯 가지 바른 생활 실천 체계인 ‘오정법(호흡·활동·마음·수면·식사)’을 체험하는 ‘치유관광의 디즈니랜드’로 구축하겠다는 비전을 제시했다.

MediWell 프로그램의 신경과학적 근거로 도입됐다. 팔머 교수는 ADHD, 치매 등 정신질환의 근본 원인을 뇌 미토콘드리아의 에너지 대사 장애로 보고, 자연 속 활동과 올바른 수면·식이 등 생활 습관 개입을 해법으로 제시했다. 

이는 오정법과 일치하는 구조로, K-MediWell 연구단은 EEG(뇌전도) 기반 뉴로피드백 시스템을 통해 프로그램참여 전후의 뇌파 변화를 실시간 측정하며 치유 효과를 과학적으로 실증할 계획이다.

이번 협약은 향후 10년 내 1,000조 원 규모로 성장이 전망되는 웰니스 시장을 겨냥해 수도권 편중을 해소하고 지역 균형 발전을 도모한다는 의의도 가진다. 이 교수는 세종시 금강 자연휴양림과 연계한 '치유관광 산업지구' 지정을 추진하며 힐스포레를 핵심 모델로 구체화하고 있다.

아울러 공주대 대학원 졸업생인 이규영 미네르바 대표의 'K-MediWell 관광 모델 개발' 논문 자산이 현장 콘텐츠 설계에 직접 활용되며 고무적인 산학협력 선순환 사례를 만들었다.

국립공주대학교 스마트의료웰니스관광대학원 이용근 교수는 “뇌과학은 치유 효과를 보여주는 객관적 언어”라며 “향후 전 세계 170개국 한국 대사관 네트워크와 연계된 글로벌 플랫폼을 창업해 해외 의료웰니스 관광객을 지역으로 유치하는 장기 전략을 추진하겠다”고 밝혔다.
