더불어민주당 김영빈 공주·부여·청양 국회의원 후보가 공주시를 충남권의 핵심 행정 거점이자 스스로 자립할 수 있는 혁신도시로 발전시키겠다는 대규모 지역 발전 청사진을 발표했다.

김 후보는 30일 오후 자신의 선거사무소에서 김정섭 공주시장 후보와 공동으로 더불어민주당 한병도 원내대표를 만나 공주시의 비약적 성장을 견인할 ‘6대 과제’를 제안하고, 이를 실현하기 위한 정책 협약을 체결했다.

이날 발표된 공주시 발전을 위한 6대 핵심 과제에는 ▲행정수도 완성에 발맞춘 송선·동현 지구 ‘공주 혁신도시’ 조성 ▲행정수도특별법 내 공주시의 법적 지위 명시 추진 ▲백제왕도특별법 시행에 따른 국비 예산 대폭 확보 및 조기 배정 ▲공공기관 우선 이전 및 공공임대형 청사 건립 예산 확보 ▲KTX 공주역과 연계한 도심항공교통(K-UAM) 실증센터 유치 ▲국립대학교의 새로운 통합 모델 추진 등이 포함됐다. 

두 후보는 이러한 공약들이 원활하게 추진될 수 있도록 중앙당 차원의 실질적인 재정 지원과 행정적 협조를 강력히 요청했다.

김영빈 후보는 “이번에 마련한 6대 과제는 공주시가 직면한 인구 감소 위기를 극복하고, 지역 경제에 새로운 활력을 불어넣을 확실한 돌파구가 될 것”이라며 “단순히 세종시의 배후 역할에 머무는 것이 아니라, 스스로 성장 동력을 갖춘 충남의 독자적인 행정 거점 도시를 반드시 만들어내겠다”고 강한 의지를 피력했다.

이에 대해 한병도 원내대표는 “제안된 공약들은 공주시와 인근 세종시가 함께 상생하며 발전할 수 있는 최적의 방안”이라고 평가하며 “김 후보가 공약한 6대 과제가 차질 없이 진행될 수 있도록 당 차원의 전폭적인 지원을 아끼지 않겠다”고 화답했다. 이어 “김영빈 후보는 더불어민주당이 철저한 검증을 거쳐 영입한 역량 있는 인재”라며 김 후보의 전문성을 높이 평가했다.

한편, 정책제안서 전달식을 성공적으로 마친 김영빈 후보는 한병도 원내대표, 김정섭 공주시장 후보와 함께 공주 시내 주요 거점으로 이동해 합동 지원 유세를 펼치며 유권자들의 지지를 호소했다.
