전통시장과 소상공인을 노린 이른바 ‘노쇼 사기’가 잇따르자 경찰이 현장 예방 활동에 나섰다. 대전중부경찰서 문화지구대는 최근 물품 대량구매를 미끼로 주문을 유도한 뒤 잠적하는 사기 수법이 늘고 있다고 보고, 상인을 직접 만나 대응 요령을 알리는 방식으로 예방 활동을 벌였다고 밝혔다.

문화지구대는 산성전통시장을 찾아 상인협의회와 간담회를 열고 최근 피해 사례와 의심 상황을 공유했다. 이번 활동의 초점은 막연한 주의를 당부하는 데 있지 않았다. 상인들이 현장에서 바로 적용할 수 있도록 대량구매 요청이나 기관 사칭 전화가 들어올 경우 신원을 다시 확인하고, 수상한 정황이 있으면 즉시 112에 신고하도록 대응 매뉴얼을 전달하는 데 무게를 뒀다.
