대전 유성구가 한국공공자치연구원이 주관하는 '2025 한국지방자치경쟁력지수(KLCI) 평가'에서 전국 자치구 중 3위를 차지하며 경쟁력 있는 도시의 면모를 다시 한번 입증했다. 

특히 대전 지역 5개 자치구 중에서는 압도적인 1위를 기록해 그 위상을 공고히 했다. 

한국지방자치경쟁력지수(KLCI)는 1996년부터 매년 전국 226개 지방자치단체를 대상으로 지역 경쟁력을 분석하는 대표적인 지표다. 공식 통계자료를 바탕으로 경영자원 ,경영활동 ,경영성과 등 3개 부문 88개 세부 지표를 종합적으로 분석하여 지방정부의 역량을 평가한다.

이번 평가에서 유성구는 3개 부문을 합산한 종합경쟁력에서 1,000점 만점에 총점 600.1점을 획득했다. 

이는 부산 연수구, 인천 서구에 이어 전국 자치구 3위에 해당하는 높은 성적이다. 또한 대전 지역 5개 자치구 중에서는 1위에 올랐으며, 최근 5년간 전국 10위권 안에 이름을 올린 대전 자치구는 유성구가 유일한 것으로 나타났다. 

유성구는 특히 주민들의 삶의 질 향상과 안정적인 도시 운영 측면을 보여주는 경영성과 부문에서 전국 자치구 중 2위를 기록했다. 인구활력, 경제활력, 공공안전, 보건복지 등 지역의 지속 가능성을 보여주는 지표에서 탁월한 성과를 거두며 높은 평가를 받았다.

유성구 관계자는 이번 성과에 대해 “특정 분야에만 국한되지 않고 전반적인 행정 운영과 정책 추진에서 균형 잡힌 경쟁력을 인정받은 결과”라고 평가하며, “앞으로도 지속 가능한 도시 발전과 주민 중심 행정을 위해 꾸준히 노력할 것”이라고 덧붙였다.

Daejeon Yuseong-gu Ranks Nationwide in Local Government Competitiveness by 2025… Daejeon Reaffirms Its Top Ranking

Daejeon Yuseong-gu ranked third nationwide in the 2025 Korea Local Government Competitiveness Index (KLCI) evaluation conducted by the Korea Institute for Public Administration, once again demonstrating its competitive status.

Notably, it solidified its position by overwhelmingly ranking first among the five districts in the Daejeon area.

The Korea Local Government Competitiveness Index (KLCI) is a leading indicator that analyzes regional competitiveness for 226 local governments nationwide since 1996. Based on official statistical data, it comprehensively analyzes 88 sub-indicators across three categories: management resources, management activities, and management performance to assess local government capabilities.

In this evaluation, Yuseong-gu earned a total score of 600.1 out of 1,000 in the overall competitiveness index, which combines all three categories.

This is a high score, ranking third among autonomous districts nationwide, following Yeonsu-gu in Busan and Seo-gu in Incheon. It also ranked first among the five autonomous districts in Daejeon, and is the only Daejeon district to have ranked in the top 10 nationwide for the past five years.

Yuseong-gu ranked second nationwide in the management performance category, which reflects improved quality of life for residents and stable urban operations. It also received high praise for its outstanding performance in indicators demonstrating regional sustainability, including population vitality, economic vitality, public safety, and health and welfare.

A Yuseong-gu official commented on this achievement, saying, "This is a recognition of our balanced competitiveness in overall administrative operations and policy implementation, not limited to specific areas." He added, "We will continue to strive for sustainable urban development and resident-centered administration."
