충남도의회가 ‘충남형 친환경 경로당 급식 모델’을 구축하기 위한 정책 연구의 최종 단계에 들어섰다. 

충남도도의회 ‘공공급식 활성화 방안 마련 연구모임(대표 김기서)’은 2일 국립공주대학교 예산캠퍼스에서 제3차 회의와 연구용역 최종보고회를 개최하고, 경로당 급식 현황과 친환경 식재료 활용 확대 방안을 점검했다.

최종 보고서에 따르면, 충남 15개 시군 내 4,736개 경로당은 주 3.4회 급식을 운영 중이나, 친환경 식재료 사용은 일부 시군의 친환경 쌀·잡곡 지원에 그쳐 ‘부분적 적용 단계’이다. 부서별 지원체계가 분산돼 통계 관리가 어렵고, 시군 간 예산 차이와 공급 불균형, 조달 비효율성 등이 문제가 되고 있다.

연구진은 ‘친환경 식재료 지원 통합 관리체계 구축’, ‘학교급식지원센터 기반 공급체계 정비’, ‘시군 공동조달 및 권역별 공급망 연계’, ‘친환경 식재료 활용 평가체계 도입’, ‘경로당 급식 운영 유형별 맞춤형 모델 적용’ 등 여러 개선책을 제안했다.

김기서 의원은 “경로당 급식은 단순한 식사 제공을 넘어 고령사회의 필수 복지, 친환경 식재료 확대가 지역 농업과 상생하는 ‘충남형 공공급식 모델’ 완성의 키”라고 강조하며, 도의회의 적극적 지원을 약속했다.

이번 연구가 정책과 조례 개선으로 이어져 도민 건강 증진과 지속가능한 지역 농업 발전에 기여할 것으로 기대된다.
