세종특별자치시가 산업통상자원부의 ‘2025년 투자유치 우수지자체 평가’에서 전국 시(市) 단위 지자체 중 유일하게 우수 지자체로 선정됐다고 2일 밝혔다. 이는 세종시가 2012년 출범한 이후 처음으로 거둔 성과다.

산업부는 2일 광주에서 열린 ‘2025년 지방투자 아카데미’에서 세종시를 비롯해 충청남도와 전라북도를 우수 지자체로 발표했다. 

이번 평가는 지난해 9월부터 올해 9월까지의 투자유치 활동을 대상으로 이뤄졌으며, 투자유치 실적 ,투자 수행 성과 ,사업이행 관리 ,수혜기업 만족도 ,비계량 평가 등 다섯 개 항목을 종합적으로 심사한 결과다.

이번 선정으로 세종시는 2026년도 지방투자촉진보조금의 국비 지원 비율이 기존 65%에서 70%로 상향된다. 시는 이에 따라 약 2억5천만 원 규모의 예산 절감 효과가 발생할 것으로 내다보고 있다.

지방투자촉진보조금은 지방자치분권 및 지역균형발전에 관한 특별법에 따라 중앙정부와 지방자치단체가 공동으로 기업의 투자금 일부를 지원하는 제도이다. 세종시는 이번 인센티브 상향을 계기로 기업 유치 정책을 더욱 강화할 계획이다.

최민호 세종시장은 “미래전략수도로 도약하기 위해 추진해 온 자족기능 확충 노력이 국가로부터 공식적으로 인정받은 결과”라며 “투자 환경을 개선해 더 많은 기업이 세종을 선택하도록 만들겠다”고 말했다.

한편, 세종시는 2022년 7월 시정 4기 출범 이후 47개 기업으로부터 총 3조4088억 원의 투자를 유치하며 시 출범 이후 최대 규모의 실적을 기록하고 있다.
