대전시 한밭도서관이 약 7개월에 걸친 전면 개편을 마치고 12월 2일부터 시험 운영을 시작했다. 이번 사업은 노후 공공도서관의 기능을 현대화하고 에너지 성능을 획기적으로 높이기 위한 ‘공공건축물 그린리모델링 사업’의 대표적 성과로 꼽힌다.

이번 개선으로 건물 전반의 단열 구조가 강화되고 고효율 창호가 설치되었으며, 태양광 발전 시스템과 LED 조명 등 친환경 설비가 도입됐다. 아울러 기존 냉·난방 시설은 최신 장비로 모두 교체하고, 실내 오염물질을 줄이면서 에너지를 절감할 수 있는 폐열 회수형 환기 장치도 함께 구축했다. 이는 공공건축물의 에너지 절감 기준이 높아지는 흐름에 발맞춘 조치로 평가된다.
