충남대학교(총장 김정겸)가 영국 대학평가기관 QS(Quacquarelli Symonds)가 최근 발표한 ‘2026 QS 지속가능성 평가’에서 세계 440위에 오르며 전년 대비 72계단 상승했다. 

이번 평가는 충남대가 지속가능성과 사회적 책무성을 동시에 강화해 온 성과를 보여준 것으로 평가된다.

QS 지속가능성 평가는 대학의 교육과 연구뿐 아니라 환경, 사회적 책임, 거버넌스(Governance) 등의 지속가능성 지표를 종합 분석해 순위를 매긴다. 올해 평가는 전 세계 1,994개 대학과 국내 48개교, 국가거점국립대 9개교를 대상으로 진행됐다.

이번 평가에서 충남대는 세계 440위, 국내 13위, 거점국립대 중에서는 공동 3위를 기록했다. 특히 지난해에 비해 세계 순위는 72단계, 국내 순위는 5단계, 거점국립대 순위는 2단계 상승하는 성과를 보였다.

세부 평가에서는 ‘사회 영향(Social Impact)’ 부문의 ‘교육 영향력(Impact of Education)’에서 74.1점을, ‘거버넌스(Good Governance)’에서는 89.6점을 획득하며 투명하고 책임 있는 운영 체계 및 교육을 통한 사회적 기여에서 높은 평가를 받았다.

김정겸 총장은 “이번 성과는 충남대가 교육·연구뿐 아니라 사회공헌과 투명한 대학 운영을 균형 있게 발전시켜 온 결과”라며 “앞으로도 지역사회와 함께 성장하는 지속가능한 캠퍼스 조성에 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.

Chungnam National University (President Kim Jeong-gyeom) ranked 440th in the world in the "2026 QS Sustainability Rankings" recently released by the British university evaluation agency Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), rising 72 places from the previous year.

This ranking is recognized as a testament to Chungnam National University's efforts to simultaneously strengthen sustainability and social responsibility.

The QS Sustainability Rankings comprehensively analyzes sustainability indicators, including education and research, as well as environmental, social, and governance indicators. This year's rankings included 1,994 universities worldwide, 48 universities in Korea, and nine nationally designated universities.

In this evaluation, Chungnam National University ranked 440th globally, 13th domestically, and tied for 3rd among key national universities. Notably, compared to last year, Chungnam National University rose 72 places in the global ranking, 5 places in the domestic ranking, and 2 places in the key national university ranking.

In a detailed evaluation, Chungnam National University received 74.1 points in the "Impact of Education" category of the "Social Impact" category and 89.6 points in the "Good Governance" category, earning high marks for its transparent and responsible management system and its commitment to social contribution through education.
