대전시가 유성구 대정동에 위치한 대전종합물류단지에 대한 재정비 작업을 20년 만에 본격 추진한다. 이를 위해 대전시는 종합물류단지 재정비계획 변경안을 확정하고, 지난달 29일 최종 고시했다고 3일 밝혔다.

2003년 문을 연 이 단지는 46만㎡ 규모에 한진 대전스마트 메가허브터미널, 모다아울렛 등 25개 물류·유통기업이 입주해 지역 물류 거점 역할을 수행해왔다. 하지만 준공 이후 시간이 흐르면서 대형 화물차의 출입 불편, 기반시설 노후 등 다양한 문제점이 드러나 개선 필요성이 제기돼 왔다.

이에 따라 시는 지난해부터 단지 현황 조사를 실시하고 기업·주민 의견을 반영한 정비안을 마련했다. 재정비계획에는 건축물 높이 제한 완화를 통한 옥상 주차장 활용 확대 ,화물차 진출입 동선 개선 ,도로·교차로 정비 등 기반시설 보강이 포함됐다. 또 관련 법령과 용어를 현행화해 제도적 기반도 정비했다.

이번 사업은 민간 주도 방식으로 이루어지며, 한진과 대전진잠농협이 개선 비용을 부담한다. 이에 따라 시 재정부담은 최소화하면서도 기업 활동 편의 증진과 지역경제 활성화를 동시에 기대할 수 있게 됐다.

대전시 관계자는 “물류산업 환경 변화에 대응해 기업들의 불편 요소를 해소하고 물류단지의 안전성을 높이겠다”며 “지역 물류기업이 보다 안정적인 환경에서 성장할 수 있도록 지원을 이어가겠다”고 말했다.
