대전지역 장애인단체가 최근 지역 프로야구단인 한화이글스가 대전 한화생명 볼파크 내 장애인석을 인조잔디와 고급 의자로 덮어 ‘특별석’으로 판매해 이익을 챙긴 구단을 강력 규탄하고 나섰다.

이들 단체는 8월 18일 오후 3시 대전시의회 1층 로비에서 기자회견을 열고 한화이글스와 야구장 운영 주체를 형사 고발하겠다는 계획을 공식적으로 밝혔다. 

기자회견문을 낭독한 황경아 대전시의회 부의장은 “최근 확인 결과, 한화생명 이글스파크 내 장애인 지정석이 불법적으로 가려지고, 그 자리에 인조잔디와 고급 의자를 설치해 특별석으로 사용하는 사실이 드러났다”며 “이는 장애인, 노인, 임산부 등의 편의 증진을 보장하도록 한 법률과 체육시설 관련 규정을 정면으로 위반한 것”이라고 지적했다.

황경아 부의장은 또 “장애인 지정석은 사회적 약속이자 권리이지만, 한화이글스는 이 자리를 상업적 이익을 위해 특별석으로 변경함으로써 장애인들의 접근권·관람권을 심각하게 침해했다”며 “특별석을 구매한 시민들까지 기망했다”고 비판했다. 

황 부의장은 “이와 같은 행위는 단순 실수가 아닌 장애인 권리 경시, 공익보다 사익을 우선한 악질적 차별이자 명백한 인권 침해”라고 목소리를 높였다.

그러면서 대전경찰청에 고발장을 접수한다고 강력한 의지를 밝혔다.

이날 장애인단체와 황경아 부의장은 ▲장애인 지정석 원상 복구 및 재발 방지 대책 마련 ▲관련 책임자 형사 고발 및 철저한 수사 ▲대전시 등 관련 기관의 엄정한 조사와 행정처분을 요구했다.

이날 기자회견문 낭독에 앞서 황경아 대전시의회 부의장은 한화그룹 김승연 회장이 어려운것 같은데 돈이라도 모아서 주고 싶은 심정 이라는 표현으로 한화그룹과 김승연 회장에게 화살을 돌렸다.

한편, 한화이글스가 야구장 내 장애인용 좌석 100여 개를 특별석으로 전용해 1석당 5만 원의 입장료를 받고 판매, 수익을 올린 사실이 최근 언론 보도로 알려지며 도덕성과 윤리의식에 대한 비난 여론이 확산된 바 있다.
