충남 논산시가 밀가루 수입 의존도를 줄이고 국산 쌀 소비를 촉진하기 위한 실질적 기반을 마련했다. 

시는 지난 29일 연산면에 위치한 연농유통에서 ‘쌀가루 지역자립형 소비모델 구축사업’의 일환으로 가루쌀 제분시설 준공식을 열고 본격적인 운영에 들어갔다.

이날 행사에는 백성현 논산시장과 연농유통 홍만기 대표이사, 관계 공무원 및 유통 종사자 등 100여 명이 참석해 지역 쌀 산업 발전의 전기를 마련할 새로운 기반 구축을 함께 축하했다.

가루쌀은 일반 쌀과 달리 전분 구조가 밀가루와 유사해 제분과 제과, 제면 등의 가공에 적합한 품종이다. 글루텐이 없어 소화에 부담이 적고 알레르기 유발 가능성도 낮아 건강식 대체재로 주목받고 있다. 그러나 수입 밀가루보다 높은 원가로 인해 시장 경쟁력 확보에는 한계가 있었다.
