충남교육청(이하 교육청)이 공무원을 사칭해 금전을 요구하는 조직적 사기 시도에 대해 신속하게 경찰 수사를 의뢰하고, 도내 전 기관과 업체에 사칭 주의를 당부하는 등 ‘피해 예방 총력 대응’에 나섰다.

교육청에 따르면 최근 정체불명의 인물이 교육청 소속 직원을 사칭, 도내 민간업체에 전화를 걸어 교육청 발주 사업을 빙자해 물품 대금 입금을 요구하는 사례가 접수됐다. 

이에 따라 교육청은 지난 25일 즉시 해당 사건을 관할 경찰서에 정식 수사의뢰하고, 유사 피해 확산 방지를 위한 긴급 대응 체계를 가동했다.

이번 사칭 사건은 허위 발주와 금전 요구가 동시에 이뤄진 보이스피싱형 조직적 범죄로 의심되며, 충남교육청은 사칭 주의를 촉구하는 문자 메시지를 공사 및 물품 계약 관련 도내 민간업체에 즉각 발송했다. 또한 도내 각급 기관 공식 누리집에 ‘사칭 경고문’을 게시해 반복적인 경각심 제고에 나섰다.

충남교육청 관계자는 “이번 사칭 사건은 공공기관의 신뢰를 악용해 민간에 금전적 피해를 야기하려 한 중대한 범죄”라며 “조직적 범죄 가능성에 무게를 두고 철저한 경찰 수사를 요청한 만큼, 유사 피해 재발 방지 대책도 교육청 차원에서 지속적으로 추진할 계획”이라고 밝혔다.

이어 “도내 업체 및 학교에서는 기관 명의로 물품 발주나 계약 요청이 들어올 시 반드시 공식 연락처로 사실 여부를 확인해야 하며, 유사 사례가 즉시 확인될 경우 교육청이나 경찰에 즉시 신고해달라”고 당부했다.
