한국폴리텍대학 특성화대학과 사단법인 도시공동체본부가 미래 사회의 지속가능성과 혁신을 위한 든든한 협력 관계를 구축했다. 

양 기관은 16일 논산 폴리텍대 바이오캠퍼스에서 전략적 업무협약 체결을 통해 ESG(환경·사회·지배구조) 가치 확산, 바이오기술을 활용한 공동체 활성화, 그리고 청년·중장년 맞춤 일자리 창출을 주요 목표로 뜻을 모았다.

이번 협약은 단순한 산학 협력을 넘어 각 기관이 지닌 전문성과 사회적 사명을 결합해 지역사회는 물론, 미래 세대를 위한 포용적 성장 기반 구축에 한 걸음 더 다가가는 계기가 됐다. 

한국폴리텍대학은 평생직업교육과 현장 실무 중심의 특화된 교육 시스템을 바탕으로, 도시공동체본부와 함께 다양한 연령과 배경의 인재를 육성해 지역 산업 경쟁력을 높이는 데에 주력할 방침이다.

업무협약 이후 양측은 캠퍼스 첨단 바이오 연구 시설을 함께 둘러보며 실제적 협력 방안에 대해 심도 있는 의견을 나눴다.

특히 도시공동체본부가 중점적으로 추진하는 청년·중장년 일자리, 다문화 사회 통합, 도시-농촌 연계와 같은 사업 영역은 폴리텍대학의 특성화 교육과 자연스럽게 연계되어 시너지 효과를 극대화할 것으로 기대를 모으고 있다.

정인학 학장은 협약식에서 "폴리텍대학교 바이오 캠퍼스가 보유한 압도적인 교육 인프라와 선도적인 연구 역량이 도시공동체본부의 폭넓은 사회 공헌 활동과 만나 상상을 초월하는 시너지를 낼 것으로 확신한다"며, "특히 ESG의 전문성과 교육은 바이오를 포함한 우리 4개 특성화대학들에게 도입과 함께 반드시 적용되어야 할 핵심 가치입니다. 이를 통해 우리 사회의 지속가능성을 높이는 데 폴리텍대학이 선도적인 역할을 할 것입니다." 라고 강조했다. 이어서 "이번 협약을 통해 지역사회 발전에 기여하고, 더 나아가 지속 가능한 미래를 만들어 나가는 데 적극적으로 동참하겠다"고 밝혔다.

이가희 이사장은 "도시공동체본부는 도시와 농촌 세대 간의 상생과 지속 가능한 사회 구현을 위한 공동체 회복 운동에 기여하는 것을 숭고한 목적으로 한다" 며, "한국폴리텍대학교 바이오 캠퍼스와의 협력을 통해 ESG와 바이오 분야의 전문성을 비약적으로 강화하고, 이를 통해 실질적인 공동체 활성화와 일자리 창출에 기여할 수 있게 되어 더할 나위 없이 기쁘다"고 전했다. 이어 "오늘의 양해각서 체결은 단순한 약속을 넘어, 지속 가능한 공동체를 향한 담대한 첫걸음이 될 것"이라고 말했다.

양 기관은 앞으로도 MOU에 그치지 않고, 바이오와 ESG 기반의 인재양성, 공동연구, 사회공헌 사업 등 구체적인 실행 프로젝트를 지속적으로 발굴해 나갈 예정이다. 이번 협력은 변화하는 현대 사회 속에서 지역사회와 산업 현장의 문제를 실질적으로 해결하는 선구적 사례가 될 것으로 보인다.
