대전시교육청이 7월 10일 대전가원학교에서 학부모와 교직원을 대상으로 긴급 정밀안전진단 중간 결과를 설명하는 자리를 마련했다. 

이번 설명회는 지난 6월 17일 대전가원학교 교실에서 발생한 흔들림 현상에 대한 학부모와 교육공동체의 불안감을 해소하고, 소통을 강화하기 위해 마련됐다.

현장에는 정밀안전진단을 수행한 안전진단업체의 구조기술사가 참석해, 그간의 현장 조사 자료와 진단 과정을 바탕으로 건물의 안전성과 상태를 종합적으로 평가한 결과를 설명했다. 

업체 측은 “건물 내 균열이 일부 발견됐으나, 이는 마감재에서 발생한 것으로 건물의 구조적 안전과는 무관하다”며, “전반적으로 건물의 안전에는 이상이 없다”고 밝혔다.

아직 최종 정밀안전진단 보고서는 완성되지 않았지만, 대전시교육청은 이달 중 보고서가 마무리되는 대로 한국교육시설안전원에 적정성 검토를 의뢰해 최종 검증을 받을 계획이다.

이날 설명회에서는 교실 증축 가능성에 대한 질문도 나왔다. 이에 대해 시교육청 관계자는 “학교 신축 당시 수직증축을 염두에 두고 설계가 이루어졌으며, 이번 안전진단 자료 분석 결과 증축에도 문제가 없는 것으로 확인됐다”고 설명했다.

백승영 대전시교육청 시설과장은 “이번 설명회가 학부모와 교직원들의 불안감을 조금이나마 덜어드리는 계기가 되길 바란다”며 “최종 적정성 검토가 완료되면 다시 한 번 자세한 설명의 자리를 마련하겠다”고 말했다.
