오세현 아산시장이 10일 삼성디스플레이 아산캠퍼스를 찾아 민생경제 회복과 첨단산업 육성을 위한 상생협력 방안을 논의했다. 

이번 방문은 디스플레이 산업의 글로벌 경쟁 심화와 통상환경의 불확실성 등 복합 위기 속에서, 아산시와 삼성디스플레이가 협력해 지역경제의 새로운 돌파구를 모색하자는 취지로 마련됐다.

오 시장은 조성순 삼성디스플레이 상생협력센터장, 이건형 글로벌인프라총괄장 등과 만나 △디스플레이 국가첨단특화단지 조성 △‘디스플레이 특별법’ 제정 추진 △지역 인재 양성 및 채용 확대 △협력업체 유치 및 지역 상권 활성화 등 주요 현안을 두고 심도 있는 논의를 진행했다. 

특히 아산스마트팩토리마이스터고와의 연계 채용, 디스플레이 아카데미 운영 등 청년 일자리 기반 확대를 위한 삼성의 적극적인 협력을 요청했다.

오 시장은 “글로벌 수요 위축과 중국의 기술 추격 등으로 디스플레이 산업이 도전에 직면해 있다”며 “반도체와 함께 국가 제조업의 양대 축인 디스플레이 산업에 반도체 특별법 수준의 법적·제도적 지원이 필요하다”고 강조했다. 

이어 “기초자치단체로서 산업 기반을 직접 뒷받침하는 데 한계가 있지만, 정부와 국회를 잇는 가교 역할을 충실히 하겠다”며 ‘디스플레이 특별법’ 제정의 필요성을 산업통상자원위원회 등 관계기관에 적극 건의하겠다고 밝혔다.

오 시장은 “아산의 발전은 삼성디스플레이의 성장과 맞닿아 있다”며 “기업과 함께 뛰며 민첩하고 실질적인 지원을 아끼지 않겠다”고 강조했다.
