대전광역시 중도장애인사회복귀지원센터가 10일 대전시청역 내 예술마루지에서 공식 개소했다. 

이날 행사에는 황경아 대전시의회 부의장이 참석해 중도장애인의 사회참여 확대와 권익 보호를 위한 적극적인 지원 의지를 밝혔다.

중도장애인사회복귀지원센터는 후천적으로 장애를 입은 시민들이 일상으로 복귀하고 자립할 수 있도록 돕는 전문 기관이다. 

센터는 일상생활 적응, 지역사회 정착, 가족 지원, 주거 공간 마련, 운전 시뮬레이션 등 다양한 맞춤형 프로그램을 제공할 계획이다. 이를 통해 중도장애인들이 재활 이후 안정적으로 사회에 복귀할 수 있는 기반을 마련한다는 방침이다.

황경아 부의장은 “불의의 사고나 질환으로 인해 중도에 장애를 겪는 분들이 전체 장애인의 80%에 달한다”며, “장애를 입은 이후에도 치료와 재활을 거쳐 일상으로 복귀하고 더 나은 삶을 영위할 수 있도록 시의회 차원의 관심과 지원을 아끼지 않겠다”고 강조했다.

특히 황 부의장이 대표 발의한 ‘대전시 중도 장애인 사회복귀 지원 조례’는 전국 최초로 제정되어 지난해 10월 6일부터 시행되고 있다. 이 조례는 중도장애인의 사회복귀와 자립을 체계적으로 지원하는 제도적 토대를 마련했다는 평가를 받고 있다.
