충남 천안시가 지역 스타트업 생태계의 중심축으로 성장할 유망 스타트업 8곳을 ‘천안미래유니콘 C-STAR’ 육성사업 3기로 최종 선정했다. 

12일 천안시는 이번 선정이 지역 내 창업지원기관들과의 협력을 통해 기술력과 성장 가능성을 갖춘 스타트업을 발굴하고, 맞춤형 지원을 통해 이들의 성장을 본격적으로 이끌기 위한 목적이라고 밝혔다.

‘천안미래유니콘 C-STAR’ 육성사업은 천안시가 유망 스타트업을 집중 육성하기 위해 추진 중인 전략사업이다. 이번 3기 모집에는 총 24개 스타트업이 신청했으며, 10여 개의 창업지원기관 및 민간 투자기관이 평가에 참여해 기술성, 사업성, 성장잠재력 등을 종합적으로 심사한 결과, 최종 8개 기업이 선발됐다. 

천안시는 단기간 내 급성장이 기대되는 첨단기술 기반 스타트업들의 참여가 두드러졌다는 점에서 지역 창업 생태계가 한층 고도화되고 있다는 판단이다.

선정된 기업들은 각각의 전문 분야에서 두각을 나타내고 있다. 전기차 부품 개발기업 ‘지앤티(GnT)’는 다년간의 경험을 바탕으로 고성능 컨버터 기술을 확보하고 있으며, 글로벌 시장 진출 가능성이 높게 평가됐다. 

플라스틱 사출 공정의 에너지 소비를 획기적으로 줄인 고효율 노즐을 개발한 ‘비전이노베이션’은 친환경 제조 기술로 주목받고 있다.

군수·항공 분야에서 무인항공기를 개발 중인 ‘에이디시스템’은 미국에서 스텔스 성능 검증을 완료하며 국제 경쟁력을 입증했고, ‘미스릴’은 인공지능 기반 산업재해 예방 솔루션을 통해 안전관리 시장에서 빠르게 수요를 확대하고 있다. 

버섯 유래 식물성 단백질로 대체육을 생산하는 푸드테크 기업 ‘휴닉’은 이미 북미시장에 진출했으며, ‘티엠이브이넷’은 열관리 기술 기반 초급속 전기차 충전 시스템으로 글로벌 완성차 기업들과의 협업을 추진 중이다.

또한, ‘로웨인’은 물류로봇을 활용한 스마트 수직농장 시스템으로 농업 자동화 분야의 미래를 제시하고 있으며, ‘디고랩스’는 인공지능 기술을 접목한 폐플라스틱 선별 시스템으로 친환경 재활용 시장의 변화를 이끌고 있다.

천안시는 앞서 운영한 1·2기 C-STAR 프로그램을 통해 14개 기업을 지원했고, 이들 중 일부는 코스닥 상장과 대규모 투자 유치 등 실질적인 성과를 거두며 지역 스타트업 생태계를 선도하는 사례로 자리 잡았다.

김석필 천안시장 권한대행은 이번 3기 선발에 대해 “천안은 수도권과 가까운 입지적 장점과 함께, 풍부한 산업기반과 창업지원 인프라를 갖춘 도시”라며 “이번에 선정된 기업들이 미래 유니콘으로 성장할 수 있도록 지속적인 행정적·재정적 지원을 아끼지 않겠다”고 밝혔다.

‘AD System’, which is developing unmanned aerial vehicles in the military and aviation sectors, has proven its international competitiveness by completing stealth performance verification in the US, and ‘Mithril’ is rapidly expanding demand in the safety management market through its AI-based industrial accident prevention solution.

‘Hunic’, a food tech company that produces alternative meat using mushroom-derived plant-based protein, has already entered the North American market, and ‘TMVNet’ is pursuing collaboration with global automakers with its ultra-fast electric vehicle charging system based on heat management technology.
