대전시가 고등교육의 혁신과 지역 상생을 위한 대규모 프로젝트인 ‘RISE(지역혁신중심 대학지원체계)’ 사업을 본격적으로 추진한다고 25일 밝혔다. 

 

이를 위해 대전시는 총 655억 원 규모의 이번 사업을 통해 지역 내 13개 대학을 수행기관으로 최종 선정하고, 대학과 산업, 연구기관 간 협력을 중심으로 한 새로운 대학 지원 모델을 본격 가동할 계획이다.

 

25일 열린 ‘대전시 RISE 위원회’에서는 사업 평가 결과에 대한 심의 및 의결이 이뤄졌으며, 이장우 대전시장과 김정겸 충남대 총장이 공동위원장을 맡아 회의를 주재했다. 

 

대전시는 이번 위원회를 통해 총 5대 프로젝트, 12개 단위과제를 수행할 대학을 확정하고 평가 등급에 따라 사업비를 배분했다.

 

선정된 13개 대학은 건양대(메디컬 캠퍼스), 국립한밭대, 대덕대, 대전과기대, 대전대, 대전보건대, 목원대, 배재대, 우송대, 우송정보대학, 을지대, 충남대, 한남대다. 이들 대학은 지역 산업 및 연구기관과 긴밀히 협력하며 교육혁신, 취·창업 활성화, 산학연 협력 고도화, 평생교육 강화, 지역 문제 해결 등 다양한 분야의 프로젝트를 수행하게 된다.

 

프로젝트인 ‘지역선도형 대학교육 특성화’는 전략산업 및 미래 유망분야 인재 양성을 목적으로 하며, 13개 대학에 약 154억 원이 투입된다. 

 

이어 지역 내 취업 및 창업을 촉진하는 ‘지역정주형 취·창업 활성화’가 있으며, 대전대를 포함한 12개 대학에 192억 원이 배정됐다.

 

‘지속발전형 지산학연 협력 고도화’는 세 번째 프로젝트로, 출연연과 연계한 연구 협력과 기술사업화, 공동교육체계 운영 등을 중심으로 한다. 

 

이 분야에는 국립한밭대를 포함한 13개 대학에 177억 원이 투입된다. 특히, 충남대, 국립한밭대, 한남대 등 6개 대학은 ‘출연연 협력 프로젝트’를 통해 지역 혁신 모델 구축에 주력할 예정이다.

 

네 번째는 배재대를 포함한 9개 대학이 참여하는 ‘생애성장형 직업·평생교육 강화’ 프로젝트로, 51억 원의 예산을 통해 재직자 및 시민을 위한 교육 프로그램이 운영된다. 

 

마지막으로는 우송대를 포함한 12개 대학이 참여하는 ‘RISE 촉진형 지역현안 해결 및 꿀잼도시 조성’ 프로젝트가 있다. 이 과제는 외국인 유학생 유치, 문화예술 콘텐츠 개발, 리빙랩 운영 등을 통해 대전의 지역 활력과 글로벌 경쟁력을 높이는 데 초점을 맞춘다.

 

대전시는 사업의 성과를 체계적으로 관리하기 위해 360도 인재양성 교육혁신지수(D1) ,지산학연 협력지수(D2) ,지역활력지수(D3) 등 3대 자율 성과지표를 개발했으며, 이를 통합한 ‘D-Triple(대전 RISE 생태계지수)’를 구축할 계획이다. 이 지표를 통해 오는 2029년까지 성과를 분석하고 지속 가능한 지역혁신 생태계를 조성한다는 방침이다.

 

대전시는 이번 선정 결과를 각 대학에 통보하고 이의신청 절차를 거쳐, 5월 중으로 대전RISE센터와 수행대학 간 협약을 체결할 예정이다.

 

이장우 대전시장은 “올해 초 교육부의 평가를 통해 124억 원 규모의 국비를 추가로 확보한 것은 매우 고무적인 성과”라며, “지자체 주도의 RISE 사업을 통해 지역 대학, 산업계, 연구기관이 수평적으로 협력하며 지속 가능한 성장과 교육혁신의 선순환 구조를 만들어갈 것”이라고 밝혔다.
