더불어민주당 대통령선거 경선에 나선 김동연 경기도지사가 자신의 정치적 출발점으로서의 충청을 언급하며, "당당한 경제 대통령"의 길을 힘차게 열어가겠다고 말했다.

19일 충북 청주의 청주체육관에서 개최된 충청권 합동연설회에서 김 후보는 “충청이 곧 대한민국의 미래를 여는 출발점”이라며 “이곳에서 정권교체와 경제 대개혁, 국민통합의 실마리를 풀겠다”고 목소리를 높였다.
