대전 서구의회가 투표권을 행사하는 무소속 의원 1명의 입맛을 맞추느라 임시회를 3번이나 개최한 사실이 확인되면서 행정력 낭비라는 지적과 함께 의회 집행부의 정치력에 한계를 드러낸 것 아니냐는 지탄을 받고 있다.

대전 서구의회는 2024 회계년도 결산검사위원을 선출하면서 지난 3월 21일과 28일, 그리고 4월 7일 3번의 임시회를 개최하고 결산검사위원을 선출했다.

서구의회의 이 같은 의회 운영 사실이 알려지자 서구의회가 생산성 없는 의회 운영이라는 지적과 함께 무소속 눈치 보기 의회 운영을 하고 있는 것 아니냐는 우려가 나오고 있다.

앞서 대전 서구의회는 지난 3월 21일 제228회 임시회 1차 본회의에서 2024년도 결산검사위원으로 더불어민주당 전명자, 신진미 의원을 선출하기로 하고 표결에 붙였지만 무소속 최규 의원의 기권으로 위원 선출을 하지 못했다.

이후 서구의회는 3월 28일 제288회 2차 본회의에서 동일한 안건을 상정해 표결에 붙였지만 역시 무소속 의원의 기권으로 위원 선출을 하지 못했다.

이날 표결은 더불어민주당 전명자, 박용준 의원을 대상으로 표결을 실시했었다.

결과적으로 무소속 의원을 결산검사위원으로 선출하기 위해 3번의 임시회를 개최한 서구의회에 대해 둔산동 거주 이 모씨(60)는 "정치력 부재에서 오는 한계를 드러낸 것으로 금쪽같은 시간을 낭비한 서구의회가 깊이 반성해야 할 것"이라며 "정치는 소통과 협치를 중시해야 되는데 특정인에 이끌려 의회가 제 역할을 제대로 하지 못하고 있는 것 아닌가 하는 생각에 서구민으로서 창피하다는 생각이 든다"고 지적했다.
