충남대학교 김정겸 총장이 취임 1주년을 맞아 그동안의 성과를 구성원과 공유하고, 대학의 미래를 향한 새로운 도약을 약속했다고 충남대가 보도자료를 통해 전했다. 

 

김 총장은 4월 1일 교직원과 재학생을 대상으로 ‘취임 1주년을 맞이하여 구성원 여러분께 드리는 말씀’이라는 제목의 서한문을 발송하며, ‘THE STRONG CNU, MEGA UNIVERSITY’ 비전 실현에 대한 강한 의지를 밝혔다.

 

김 총장은 지난해 4월 1일 총장에 취임한 이후, 미래사회에 대응하는 강한 대학을 만들기 위한 중장기 전략으로 ‘4MVP 실천 체계’를 제시했다. 이 체계는 Mobile, Multifunctional, Mixed, Mega의 4M 전략을 기반으로, 하나의 비전을 12개의 실천 과제로 구체화한 것이 특징이다. 

 

총장은 서한문과 함께 지난 3월 31일 월요정책회의를 통해 주요 보직자들과 1년간의 성과를 되돌아보고, 향후 과제를 논의하는 자리를 마련했다. 김 총장은 “어려운 여건 속에서도 각자의 자리에서 최선을 다해준 구성원 모두에게 감사드린다”며 대학의 혁신 여정에 함께해준 동료들에게 고마움을 전했다.

 

김 총장이 밝힌 주요 성과는 크게 교육 혁신 ,연구 및 산학협력 강화 ,캠퍼스 다변화 및 지역사회 연계 글로벌 전략 추진 등 네 가지 분야로 요약된다.

 

교육 혁신 분야에서는 전공 선택의 자율성을 높이기 위해 창의융합대학을 신설하고, 852명을 선발하는 전공자율선택제를 도입했다. 또한 전임교원 책임시수 선택제, 교원 업적평가 개선, AI 기반 지능형 학사지원시스템 도입 등 학생과 교수를 위한 제도 개선이 이뤄졌다.

 

연구 및 산학협력 부문에서는 전 세계 상위 2% 연구자 48명 배출, 거점 국립대학 중 1인당 교외 연구비 1위, SCIE 논문수 2위, 특허출원 3위 등의 성과를 거두며 연구 경쟁력을 입증했다. 

 

특히 실험실 창업 누적 68건, 펀드 운용 191억 원 등 창의적 산학협력 모델이 돋보였다.

 

캠퍼스 다변화 및 지역사회 연계 성과로는 내포캠퍼스 설립계획 교육부 인가, 의대 신축 예산 확보, 대덕캠퍼스 기숙사 재건축 추진 등 공간 인프라 확대와 함께, 대외협력본부 ESG센터 신설, 해외 협력기관과의 네트워크 확장, 지역사회와의 ESG경영 실천 등이 추진됐다.

 

글로벌 전략에서는 수의학 QS 세계대학평가 51-100위권 진입, 교육국제화역량 인증 최고등급 획득, 외국인 연수생 유치 확대 등 국제 경쟁력을 끌어올리는 성과도 눈에 띈다. 

 

특히 윤근 여사로부터 약 40억 원 상당의 건물 기부를 포함해 총 102억 원의 발전기금을 유치하며, 재정적 기반 역시 강화됐다.

 

김 총장은 올해 충남대가 집중해야 할 핵심 과제로 글로컬대학 30 프로젝트 선정 ,RISE(지역혁신중심 대학지원체계) 예산 확보 ,전공자율선택제의 안착 ,AI 기반 교육·연구 대전환 ,산업체·출연연과의 경계를 허무는 개방형 생태계 구축 ,성과 중심의 재정 및 공간 관리 체계화 ,신동·세종·내포 특성화 캠퍼스 육성 ,궁동 유적지 개발 및 유학생 유치 확대 등을 제시했다.

 

김 총장은 “충남대학교가 직면한 변화와 도전을 기회로 삼아, 우리나라 최고의 국가거점국립대학으로 도약하겠다”며 “지역사회와 함께 성장하고, 미래를 선도하는 대학으로 거듭날 수 있도록 구성원 모두와 함께 'The Strong CNU, MEGA University'의 비전을 실현해 나가겠다”고 강조했다.
