최민호 세종시장이 기후 변화 대응과 안정적인 수량 확보를 위해 환경부에 금강 세종보의 조속한 재가동을 요청했다. 

세종시는 최 시장이 27일 정부세종청사에서 김완섭 환경부 장관과의 면담에서 이 같은 내용을 담은 건의서를 전달했다고 밝혔다.

최 시장은 정부가 2023년 제1차 국가물관리계획 변경 이후 세종보 정상화 사업을 완료하고, 금강 일대 3개 보에 대한 정상화 계획을 발표한 점을 언급하며, 세종보의 재가동이 정책 신뢰성을 확보하는 데 필수적이라고 강조했다. 

그는 기후위기와 수량 부족 문제에 효과적으로 대응하기 위해 세종보의 조속한 재가동이 필요하다고 주장했다.

또한, 최 시장은 세종보 재가동 지연으로 인해 금강 친수공간 조성을 기대하는 시민들이 느끼는 상실감이 크다고 언급하며, 시민 편의를 위해서라도 세종보의 빠른 재가동이 필요하다고 덧붙였다.

이에 대해 김완섭 장관이 최 시장의 의견에 원칙적으로 공감하며, 세종보 재가동에 대한 진지한 검토를 약속했다고 세종시가 전달했다.
