대한민국의 정원으로 알려진 태안군 안면도에서 튤립꽃박람회가 4월 8일에 개막한다. 

이번 박람회는 4월 8일부터 5월 6일까지 약 한 달간 안면도 꽃지해수욕장 일원 코리아플라워파크에서 개최된다. 군은 관광객들의 많은 관심을 당부했다.

코리아플라워파크(대표 강항식)가 주관하는 이번 축제는 지난해 네덜란드 헤이그에서 열린 ‘2024 세계튤립대표자회의(WTS)’에서 월드 튤립 디자인상을 수상한 지역 대표 축제이다. 

올해의 주제는 ‘고향의 봄’으로 정해졌으며, 270만 구의 튤립과 140만 본의 다양한 꽃들이 관람객들을 맞이할 예정이다.

행사는 1·2·3경으로 나뉘어 진행된다. 1경은 튤립의 아름다움을 강조하고, 2경은 소나무, 하늘, 벚꽃 등 주변 지형과의 조화를 중시하며, 3경은 ‘고향의 봄’ 악보를 표현한 공간으로 조성된다. 

다양한 봄꽃들이 어우러져 새로운 볼거리를 제공하며, 서해 3대 낙조로 손꼽히는 꽃지 해변의 할미 할아비 바위와 붉은 노을은 아름다운 추억을 선사할 것으로 기대된다.

축제 관계자는 “최근 봄이 짧아지고 더워지는 추세로 인해 개막일이 지난해보다 이틀, 10년 전과 비교하면 2주가 앞당겨졌다”며, “고즈넉한 고향의 향기가 느껴지도록 주제를 설정하고 아이들과 어르신을 배려하는 데 초점을 두고 있다”고 설명했다.

주최측은 관광객들이 더 가까이에서 볼 수 있도록 동선을 대폭 확충하고, 장애인과 노인, 아동 등의 편의를 고려해 행사장 경사면을 완화하고 인조잔디를 설치하는 등 ‘무장애 관광지’로 탈바꿈하기 위한 노력을 기울일 예정이다.

또한, 내년 같은 장소에서 개최되는 태안국제원예치유박람회의 성공적인 추진을 위해 706㎡ 면적의 실내전시관을 조직위 측에 제공하여 ‘원예치유관(가칭)’을 조성할 계획이다.

군 관계자는 “지역 주민들이 뜻을 모아 시작한 꽃축제가 오늘날 크게 성장해 지역 관광산업의 귀감이 되고 있다”며 “봄의 매력을 한껏 느낄 수 있는 이번 축제에 많은 분들의 관심을 바란다”고 당부했다.
