2025년 공주시 인구수가 10만 1068명으로 집계되며, 지난해 10만 1906명에 비해 838명이 감소한 것으로 나타났다. 

이는 행정안전부의 자료에 따른 것으로, 공주시의 인구유입 정책이 사실상 효과를 보지 못하고 있음을 시사한다.

지난해 공주시는 자연 감소로 1200여 명이 사망하고, 출생 숫자는 290여 명에 그쳐 인구 감소가 지속되고 있다. 

특히, 5년 전인 2020년의 인구수 10만 6294명과 비교하면 5226명이 줄어들어, 매년 평균 1045명이 감소하고 있는 상황이다.
