박희조 대전 동구청장이 을사년 새해를 맞아 지난해 성과와 새해 청사진을 제시했다.

 

박 청장은 먼저 지난해 성과로 기업과 인재가 유입되는 고밀도 혁신도시 동구, 교육특별시 동구 정착,도시의 가치를 높이는 관광‧경제 활성화 등을 꼽았고, 새해 구정 운영 계획으로는 인구 위기에 선제적 대응을 위한 조직 정비를 통해 총괄 추진체계를 구축하고, 미래세대를 위한 맞춤형 통합 시스템을 마련해 해결 방안을 찾는 '미인(미래와 인구)를 새해 구정 방향으로 선정했다고 밝혔다.

을사년은‘푸른 뱀의 해’입니다. 성장과 변화, 지혜와 통찰력을 나타내는 푸른 뱀의 의미처럼, 새해에는 지혜로운 결단을 바탕으로 새로운 시작과 성장이 조화를 이뤄 더 높이 도약하는 한 해가 되기를 진심으로 기원합니다.

 

지난해는 세계 곳곳에서 발발한 국제전쟁의 장기화와 잡히지 않는 고물가‧고환율에 따른 경제적 어려움 그리고 격변하는 국내 정치 상황까지 참 많이 어렵고 힘든 시기였습니다.

 

하지만, 적극적인 소통을 바탕으로 구민 여러분과 함께 힘과 지혜를 모아 어려움을 헤쳐 나간 결과, 대청호 활성화를 위한 규제 완화를 이끌었고, 전국 최초 건강‧복지‧돌봄서비스를 한 곳에서 제공하는 대전형 통합건강복지거점센터가 중투심을 통과하는 등 의미있는 성과를 이뤘습니다.

 

올해는 그동안 이룬 소중한 성과를 바탕으로, 임기 내 완료될 수 있는 사업들은 더욱 꼼꼼히 챙겨 완벽하게 마무리할 수 있도록 행정력을 집중하고, 장기적인 사업들 또한 구체적인 로드맵을 마련해 새로운 동구의 미래를 준비하겠습니다.

2024년 주요 성과를 꼽아보자면요?

 

󰊱 교육환경에 분 큰 변화의 바람‘교육특별시’도약

 

저출산 추세의 가속화와 함께 지속되는 인구 유출 등 지방소멸의 위기 속,‘교육’분야를 중심으로 그 해법을 찾으며 교육환경 개선에 많은 노력을 해왔습니다. 

 

먼저, 교육 분야 핵심사업인‘글로벌아카데미 설립’에 속도를 내고 있습니다. 글로벌아카데미는 저렴한 비용으로 양질의 외국어 교육은 물론 다양한 체험프로그램을 제공하는 공공형 외국어 교육기관입니다.

 

지난해 10월 실시설계용역을 마치고 민간위탁 사항에 대한 의회 동의도 완료된 만큼, 올해 본격적인 공사에 착수해 2026년에 개관할 수 있도록 관련 절차를 꼼꼼히 챙기겠습니다. 

 

또한, 신흥문화공원 내 조성될 어린이·청소년 영어도서관도 목표대로 2027년에 문을 열 수 있도록, 사전평가와 지방재정 투자심사를 완료하고 건축 설계용역을 추진하고 있습니다.

 

대표적으로, 동구 주민들이 어디서든 쉽게 책 읽을 수 있는 독서문화 공간이자 서로 교류하고 소통하는 공간이 한데 어우러진 동네북네 북카페가 2023년 홍도동에 첫 문을 연 후로, 지난해에만 용운동, 대동, 효동, 가양1동 4곳에 문을 열며 주민들의 독서 욕구를 충족시켰습니다. 

 

또한, 지난해 11월 스마트도서관 3호점 삼성동 행정복지센터점이 문을 열며, 기존 신흥문화공원 내 1호점과 2호점인 이마트 대전터미널점을 포함해 대전시 자치구 최초로 스마트도서관 3곳을 운영하고 있습니다. 

 

 2023년 불합리한 교육경비 보조 제한 개선을 위해 노력한 결과 그해 개정을 이끌었고, 지난해부터는 동구 각급 학교에도 교육경비 보조금이 지원됐습니다. 총 3억 원 규모로 24개교 27개 사업에 지원돼, 교육환경개선에 큰 도움이 됐습니다.

지난해는 대전역세권이 도심융합특구로 지정되며 동구민의 숙원사업인 역세권 개발 사업이 탄력을 받았고, 균형있는 도시 정비 실시와 낙후된 정주여건 개선, 과거와 미래가 공존하는 지역 맞춤형 도시재생사업 등 도시 발전의 새 전기를 맞이했습니다.

 

먼저, 복합2구역 개발, 도심융합특구 추진, 소세중앙공원‧신안2역사공원 조성 등 대전역세권 개발에 긍정적 소식이 잇따르며 기대감을 높였습니다.

 

이어, 가양동2구역, 홍도동1구역, 삼성동1구역, 가오동2구역 등 8개 구역에서 4,940세대 규모의 재건축 사업과 성남동1구역‧3구역, 대동4‧8구역, 삼성5구역 등 10개 구역에서 15,534세대 규모로 재개발 사업이 원활히 추진 중에 있습니다.

 

또한, 천동3구역과 대동2구역, 구성2구역 등 4개 구역에서 11,704세대 규모의 주거환경개선사업도 원활히 진행돼 정주 여건이 크게 개선되고, 거주 선호도가 높아지고 있습니다.

 

아울러, 성공적으로 마무리한 가오동‧대동 도시재생사업의 뒤를 이어 낭월동 도시재생사업이 숲 체험관, 목재문화거리 조성사업 등 착수를 시작으로 속도를 내고 있으며, 총 4개 구역에서 1,562세대 공급을 목표로 역시 순탄히 진행 중입니다. 

 

지난해 3월 판암나들목 일원 삼정지구가 산업단지 예정지로 확정되면서, 첨단‧친환경 중심의 산업단지 조성 사업이 탄력을 받았습니다. 현재, 지방공기업평가원 타당성 검토 중으로, 향후 바이오헬스 등 4차 산업 중심의 기업을 유치해 양질의 일자리 창출은 물론 산업구조 불균형 등 동구의 고질적인 경제 체질 개선에도 큰 도움이 될 것입니다.

 

󰊳 도시의 가치를 높이는 관광‧경제 활성화

 

지난해는 약 372억 원의 경제 파급효과를 가져온‘2024 대전 동구동락 축제’, 전국적 관심을 받은 빵 지도‘빵빵도시 대전동구’, 워터파크 못지않은 시설로 수만명이 다녀간 어린이 물놀이장 등 우리 동구가 노잼도시, 문화 불모지의 오명을 벗고 많은 사랑을 받은 한 해였습니다.

 

먼저, 지난해 10월 성황리에 막을 내린 2024 대전 동구동락 축제는 축제장 전면 재배치 및 대동천 수상 무대 설치 등 방문객의 편의 증진과 함께 더욱 다채로워진 프로그램으로 2년 연속 많은 방문객의 발길을 이끌며 흥행을 이어갔고, 

 

원도심 곳곳에 숨어있는 매력적인 빵집을 알리고 동구 관광명소 홍보를 위해 지난해 상반기 제작한‘빵빵도시 대전동구’빵 지도가 전국적인 관심을 받았습니다. 유명 방송사를 비롯해 전국 언론매체에 소개됨은 물론 한 해 동안 가장 트렌디한 주제를 다루는‘트렌드코리아 2025’에 소개되기도 했습니다.

 

이어, 대청호 활성화를 위한 움직임도 눈길을 끌었습니다. 

 

대청호 일원 대규모 장미공원 조성을 앞두고 마중물 사업으로 지난해 5월 개최한 대청호 장미전시회는 비록 장미원 조성 첫해이기에 행사장 규모가 크지 않고 기대한 만큼 장미가 풍성하게 피지는 않았지만, 수려한 풍광의 대청호와 장미의 어울림으로 많은 방문객의 발길을 이끌며 향후 조성될 장미공원에 대한 기대감을 높였습니다.

 

또한, 마산누리길 관광명소화 사업, 신촌누리길‧흥진누리길 조성, 추동생태습지 누리길 데크 보수 등 대청호 인근에 거주하는 주민뿐만 아니라 방문객의 편의 증진을 위한 시설개선 사업도 추진됐습니다. 

 

동구 대표 관광명소인 상소동오토캠핑장에서 개최된 가족캠프는 사전접수가 조기 마감될 정도로 인기가 많았고, 겨울철 상소문화공원 일원에서 운영 중인 어린이 눈썰매장은 매년 이용객 수가 폭발적으로 증가하고 있습니다.

 

지역경제의 든든한 버팀목인 전통시장 활성화를 위한 시설개선 등 다양한 사업들과 소상공인 지원을 위한 맞춤형 경제정책이 돋보였습니다.

 

특히, 대표 전통시장인 중앙시장에서 개최된‘동구야(夜)놀자’야시장은 더 풍성해진 먹거리, 볼거리, 즐길거리로 많은 방문객의 발길을 이끌며, 지난해 8월 대전 대표 축제인 0시 축제에선 최고의 핫플로 등극하기도 했습니다.

 

󰊴 맞춤형 돌봄으로 건강 복지, 안전한 생활여건 조성

 

변화하는 가족구조에 따라 돌봄에 대한 지자체 역할의 중요성이 커지고 있는 상황에서, 전 세대를 아우르는 맞춤형 돌봄서비스 제공으로 꼼꼼한 복지체계를 구축했습니다.

 

먼저, 대전형 통합건강복지 거점센터 건립 사업의 중투심 통과, 세대통합어울림센터 및 통합가족센터 건립 추진 등 돌봄 인프라 조성에 속도를 냈고,‘동구동행’통합 돌봄서비스를 통해 틈새돌봄 대상자 지원을 포함, 일시재가, 이동지원, 주거편의 등 맞춤형 서비스를 제공했습니다.

 

또한, 노인복지관‧노인복지센터과 협업해 거동이 불편한 1인 가구 어르신을 위한 병원 안심 동행서비스를 제공했으며, ICT 연계를 통한 인공지능 마을돌봄서비스 시행으로 독거노인의 정서적 고립과 고독사 예방에 힘 쏟았습니다.

가장 아쉬운 부분은 대전역세권 개발의 핵심사업 중 하나인 복합2구역 개발 사업이 지난해 3월 사업시행인가를 통해 본격적인 사업추진의 신호탄을 쏘아올렸지만, 건설 원가 상승에 따른 높아진 분양가와 지속된 경기침체 속 부동산 시장마저 침체를 겪으며 사업추진에 빠른 속도를 내지 못하고 있는 점입니다.

 

한 가지 더 꼽자면, 지역 곳곳에 개관한 동네북네 북카페가 주민들의 많은 사랑을 받고 있는 상황에서, 지난해 10월 문을 열 예정이었던 산내동 북카페가 올해 상반기로 연기된 점이 아쉽습니다.

󰊱 A wind of great change in the educational environment, ‘Education Special City’ leap forward

 

Amid the crisis of local extinction due to the acceleration of the low birth rate trend and the ongoing population outflow, we have made great efforts to improve the educational environment by finding solutions centered on the ‘education’ sector.

 

First, we are accelerating the establishment of the ‘Global Academy’, a core project in the education sector. The Global Academy is a public foreign language education institution that provides high-quality foreign language education at a low cost as well as various experiential programs.

 

Since the detailed design service was completed in October of last year and the parliamentary approval for the private sector consignment was also completed, we will begin full-scale construction this year and thoroughly follow the related procedures so that it can open in 2026.

 

In addition, we are completing the pre-evaluation and local financial investment review and promoting the architectural design service so that the English library for children and youth to be built in the Shinheung Cultural Park can open as planned in 2027.

 

For example, Dongne Book Cafe, which is a reading culture space where Dong-gu residents can easily read books anywhere and a space for communication and interaction, opened its first store in Hongdo-dong in 2023, and last year, it opened in four places in Yongun-dong, Daedong, Hyodong, and Gayang 1-dong, satisfying the reading needs of residents.

 

In addition, the third smart library, Samseong-dong Administrative Welfare Center, opened in November last year, and it is the first smart library in Daejeon to operate three smart libraries, including the first store in the existing Shinheung Cultural Park and the second store, E-Mart Daejeon Terminal.

 

As a result of efforts to improve unreasonable educational expense subsidy restrictions in 2023, it led to revision that year, and educational expense subsidies have been provided to all levels of Dong-gu schools since last year. A total of 300 million won was provided to 24 schools and 27 projects, greatly contributing to improving the educational environment.

Last year, the Daejeon Station area was designated as an urban fusion special zone, and the development project for the station area, a long-awaited project for Dong-gu residents, gained momentum, and a new turning point in urban development was reached with balanced urban development, improvement of outdated living conditions, and customized urban regeneration projects where the past and the future coexist.

 

First, positive news about the development of the Daejeon Station area, such as the development of the Complex 2 Zone, the promotion of the Urban Fusion Special Zone, and the creation of Soseong Central Park and Shinan 2 Historical Park, raised expectations.

 

Following this, a reconstruction project with 4,940 households in 8 zones including Gayang-dong 2 Zone, Hongdo-dong 1 Zone, Samseong-dong 1 Zone, and Gao-dong 2 Zone, and a redevelopment project with 15,534 households in 10 zones including Seongnam-dong 1 Zone and 3 Zone, Daedong 4 Zone and 8 Zone, and Samseong 5 Zone, are being smoothly implemented.

 

In addition, the residential environment improvement project for 11,704 households in 4 districts including Cheondong 3-gu, Daedong 2-gu, and Guseong 2-gu is progressing smoothly, greatly improving living conditions and increasing residential preference.

 

In addition, following the successful completion of the Gaodong-Daedong urban regeneration project, the Nangwol-dong urban regeneration project is gaining speed by starting with the forest experience center and wood culture street creation project, and is also progressing smoothly with the goal of supplying 1,562 households in 4 districts.

 

In March of last year, the Samjeong District around the Panam Interchange was confirmed as a site for an industrial complex, which gave impetus to the development of an advanced and eco-friendly industrial complex. Currently, the Local Public Enterprise Evaluation Institute is reviewing the feasibility, and in the future, it will be of great help in attracting companies centered on the 4th industry such as biohealth, creating quality jobs, and improving Dong-gu's chronic economic constitution such as industrial structural imbalance.

 

󰊳 Tourism and economic activation that increases the value of the city

 

Last year, the '2024 Daejeon Dong-gu Dongrak Festival' brought about an economic ripple effect of approximately 37.2 billion won, the 'Bread Bread City Daejeon Dong-gu' bread map that received nationwide attention, and the children's water park that attracted tens of thousands of visitors with facilities comparable to a water park, making it a year in which our Dong-gu shed its stigma as a boring city and a cultural wasteland and received much love.

 

First, the 2024 Daejeon Dong-gu Dongrak Festival, which ended successfully in October last year, continued its success by attracting many visitors for two consecutive years with more diverse programs along with improved visitor convenience such as the complete rearrangement of the festival site and the installation of a floating stage on the Daedongcheon River, and

 

The 'Bread Bread City Daejeon Dong-gu' bread map produced in the first half of last year to introduce attractive bakeries hidden throughout the city center and promote Dong-gu tourist attractions received nationwide attention. It was introduced by famous broadcasters and national media outlets, and was also introduced in ‘Trend Korea 2025’, which covers the trendiest topics of the year.

 

In addition, the movement to revitalize Daecheong Lake also attracted attention.

 

The Daecheong Lake Rose Exhibition, held in May of last year as a preparatory project in preparation for the creation of a large-scale rose park around Daecheong Lake, was held in the first year of the rose park, so the scale of the event was not large and the roses did not bloom as abundantly as expected. However, the beautiful scenery of Daecheong Lake and the roses attracted many visitors, raising expectations for the rose park that will be created in the future.

 

In addition, facility improvement projects were also promoted to improve the convenience of not only residents living near Daecheong Lake but also visitors, such as the Masan Nuri-gil tourist attraction project, the creation of Sinchon Nuri-gil and Heungjin Nuri-gil, and the repair of the deck of the Chudong Ecological Wetland Nuri-gil.

 

The family camp held at Sangso-dong Auto Camping Site, a representative tourist attraction in Dong-gu, was so popular that advance registration closed early, and the number of visitors to the children’s sledding hill operated in Sangso Cultural Park in the winter has been increasing explosively every year.

 

Various projects such as facility improvement to revitalize traditional markets, which are a strong support for the local economy, and customized economic policies to support small business owners stood out.

 

In particular, the ‘Donggu Night Play’ night market held at Jungang Market, a representative traditional market, attracted many visitors with more abundant food, things to see, and things to enjoy, and was also ranked as the hottest place at the 0 o’clock festival, a representative festival of Daejeon, in August last year.

 

󰊴 Creating health and welfare and safe living conditions through customized care

 

In a situation where the importance of the role of local governments in care is increasing due to the changing family structure, we have established a meticulous welfare system by providing customized care services that cover all generations.

 

First, we accelerated the establishment of care infrastructure by passing the central committee review of the Daejeon-type integrated health and welfare center construction project and promoting the establishment of the generation-integrated community center and integrated family center, and provided customized services such as temporary home care, mobility support, and housing convenience, including support for gap care recipients through the ‘Donggu Donghaeng’ integrated care service.

 

In addition, we provided a hospital safe companion service for single-person households with limited mobility in collaboration with senior welfare centers and senior welfare centers, and we focused on preventing emotional isolation and lonely deaths of elderly people living alone by implementing an artificial intelligence village care service through ICT linkage.

 

We supported the stable settlement of young people through the Angel Self-reliance Support Fund System for children who have been released from protection, the Youth Sharing Refrigerator that is responsible for a warm meal for young people, and the Donggu Dongrak ‘Youth Supporters Up’ activity support policy to promote young small business owners and youth policies.

 

We also put a lot of effort into establishing safety devices so that residents can live their daily lives with peace of mind. We expanded the Safe Return Home Sheriff System, which is responsible for the safe late-night return home of residents and has a high response rate, to 6 districts, and installed 20 new CCTVs for crime prevention, establishing a tight safety net.

 

What was a little disappointing?

 

The most disappointing part is that the Complex 2 Zone Development Project, one of the core projects of the Daejeon Station area development, fired a signal flare for full-scale project promotion through the business implementation permit in March of last year, but the project has not been able to proceed quickly due to the high sale price caused by the increase in construction costs and the real estate market experiencing a slump amid the ongoing economic recession.

 

One more thing to mention is that while the Dongne Book Cafes that opened in various places in the area are receiving much love from residents, it is unfortunate that the Sannae-dong Book Cafe, which was scheduled to open in October of last year, has been postponed to the first half of this year.

 

What are the New Year’s direction and key priorities for 2025?

 

The New Year’s direction for 2025 is #Beauty, ‘Future’ and ‘Population’. Currently, our Dong-gu is facing a population decline due to the acceleration of the low birth rate and aging trend, and the sustainability of the city is being threatened by the concentration of young people in the metropolitan area.

 

Accordingly, we plan to establish a comprehensive promotion system through organizational restructuring to proactively respond to the population crisis, and to find a solution by establishing a customized integrated system for future generations.

 

The detailed direction of the district administration is ▲operating a customized support system by generation and age to overcome low birth rate and population outflow ▲establishing a dignified cultural and artistic city that all residents can enjoy together ▲promoting balanced urban development with high-quality innovation in the downtown area ▲establishing a thicker and tighter welfare safety net ▲creating a sustainable city where people can lead safe lives.

 

The main projects for this purpose are ▲promoting the establishment of a generational integration center and an integrated family center ▲expanding public and national daycare centers and introducing AI food scanners ▲holding the Daejeon Donggu Dongrak Festival, Daecheong Lake Spring Festival, and Daecheong Lake Rose Exhibition ▲promoting the Nangyeoldong Urban Regeneration New Deal Project ▲promoting the establishment of a health and welfare center ▲continuing the operation of a safe security center ▲creating a shelter to respond to heat waves, etc.

 

The construction of the Generation Integration Center, which has various functions such as a comprehensive childcare support center, book cafe/culture space, health life support center, and resident shared space, is expected to accelerate with the securing of the project cost and the announcement of the project for next year. The Integrated Family Center, which will provide integrated family support services for various family types, is scheduled to open in the first half of the year.

 

In order to strengthen the public nature of childcare, we will expand public and national daycare centers and take the lead in creating a safe childcare environment by managing eating habits in conjunction with families, such as installing AI food scanners in daycare centers using the 800 million won in national funds secured through the public offering.

 

We will hold a unique festival unique to Dong-gu that will expand opportunities for residents to enjoy culture and invigorate the local economy. The representative festival, Dong-gu Dongrak Festival, will strengthen content that reflects the characteristics of the region and specialize in utilizing local resources such as the Daecheong Lake Spring Festival and Daecheong Lake Rose Exhibition.

 

In addition, we will continue to promote projects to revitalize Daecheong Lake, such as the Chudongnuri-gil development project and the remodeling of the Daecheong Lake Natural Ecology Center, and create an environment where all residents can enjoy culture in their daily lives, such as the mobile concert and youth busking projects.

 

We will accelerate the development of the station area, starting with the Daejeon Station Area Complex 2 Zone Development Project, which is scheduled to begin auxiliary construction in the second half of this year, and put all our efforts into completing the Nangwol-dong Urban Regeneration New Deal Project, which includes the public housing Nangwol-da-ga-on, a forest experience center, and a village capacity enhancement project.

 

As the construction of the nation's first health and welfare center with both welfare and health functions has been confirmed, we will speed up administrative procedures so that construction can begin as soon as possible, and strengthen the comprehensive welfare platform function through proactively discovering care targets through smart care projects and public-private cooperation networks, and through collaboration between the local administrative welfare center and health and welfare sites.

 

Last year, the Safe Return to Home Security Guard project recorded a business satisfaction rate of 73% and a business continuation request of 85%, and we will continue to operate this year as well. We will also focus on establishing measures for the safety of residents, such as river maintenance projects and heat wave response shelters, to prevent natural disasters that are becoming routine, such as record-breaking heavy rain and heat waves.

 

Securing finances for the project is the most important thing. What are Dong-gu’s efforts to secure the budget?

 

This year, with the skyrocketing exchange rate, prolonged economic recession, and tax shortages, the financial situation is more difficult than ever. Not only our Dong-gu, but local governments across the country are in a situation where they have to tighten their belts.

 

Furthermore, since our Dong-gu has a financial self-sufficiency rate of less than 10%, if national and municipal subsidies are reduced, it will have a big impact on the promotion of various pending projects.

 

Therefore, we plan to take active political steps to secure national and municipal funds this year. As a mayor with a political background, one of my strengths is the human network I have built over the past 30 years of political activities. I plan to make the most of this talent pool to overcome the financial crisis.

 

In addition, last year, I tried to find a way out of the financial difficulties through various public offerings hosted by the central government, including the Ministry of Public Administration and Security, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, and the Office for Government Policy Coordination.

In fact, I achieved the great feat of being selected for many public offerings, such as the Local Industry-Customized Job Creation Autonomous District Project, the Local Innovation Project Competition to Respond to Local Extinction, and the Daecheong Lake Nurigil Creation Project. This year, I will focus my administrative power to thoroughly prepare various public offerings and secure more national and municipal funds.

 

I heard that you carried out a large-scale reorganization this year. Please explain in detail.

 

Recently, the population decline due to the low birth rate and the local extinction issues have been selected as national issues, receiving much attention. Our Dong-gu, which once exceeded 300,000, has continued to decline, reaching a low of 215,000 in July, and is in a state of crisis.

 

Accordingly, in order to proactively respond to the population crisis and establish a comprehensive promotion system such as unifying scattered tasks, we have carried out a large-scale reorganization focused on strengthening population policy.

 

The main contents of this reorganization are the abolition of the existing Policy Development Cooperation Office, the establishment of two new departments, the Future Generation Bureau and the Safety Construction Bureau, as well as the Population Policy Division, Future Education Division, and Regional Industry Division, and the change of the Safety City Bureau to the Urban Housing Bureau.

 

In particular, through the establishment of the Future Generation Bureau, which will serve as the control tower for the Dong-gu population policy, we plan to promote Dong-gu's own population policy by overseeing tasks such as family, infants and toddlers, youth, young adults, and lifelong learning, operating the Low Birth Rate Population Crisis Response Practical Task Force, and organizing and operating the Low Birth Rate Overcoming Promotion Headquarters, a public-private consultative body for all residents of the district.

 

I heard that various festivals, including the Donggu Dongrak Festival, the representative festival of this year, were held successfully. However, there are big changes to the overall Donggu Festival next year?

 

From the Daecheongho Cherry Blossom Festival held in the Daecheongho area, famous for cherry blossoms nationwide, to the Donggu Dongrak Festival, a representative festival with an economic ripple effect of approximately 37.2 billion won, and the Dongbyeol Village Festival, various festivals that reflect the characteristics of the region this year have attracted many visitors, revitalizing the region and greatly contributing to the local economy.

 

Next year, as financial conditions are expected to be difficult due to the prolonged economic recession, we plan to increase visitor satisfaction by organizing a focused program through a large-scale festival reorganization that emphasizes efficiency and practicality.

 

First, the ‘Daecheongho Cherry Blossom Festival’ will extend the festival period, but increase the safety and convenience of visitors, and plan to minimize official performances and food by focusing on nighttime landscape lighting and pedestrian infrastructure so that visitors can enjoy cherry blossoms at any time during the cherry blossom season.

 

Next, the ‘National Heritage Night Tour’ and ‘Printing UP Art Festival’ will be scaled down or reorganized due to lack of differentiation and limitations in local economic effects. The Dong-gu Village Festival will be held every other year to reduce the burden of the budget that was insufficient when held every year and to increase the period of resident participation and program preparation to present a unique village festival.

 

Lastly, the ‘Daejeon Donggu Dongrak Festival’, a representative festival that is in its second year this year, will not only increase the number of visitors but also have a significant economic ripple effect, so next year, we plan to prepare various linked tourism products to improve the convenience of visitors by expanding safety infrastructure and programs and to revitalize surrounding commercial areas such as downtown.

The 8th local government, which has been running vigorously in preparation for the new 100 years of Dong-gu, has already reached its 4th year. 2025 is an important year in which Dong-gu must focus on exerting its prepared capabilities to take another leap forward.

 

We will once again deeply review and reflect so that the major projects and policies that have been promoted so far can be perfectly completed. We will invest more carefully in areas that directly affect the lives of residents, such as education, welfare, and urban regeneration, and achieve balanced development and innovation in the city.
