"갑질 행정 교육청을 규탄하고, 아무도 책임지지 않는 특수교사의 죽음에 대한 진상 조사가 반드시 이루어져야 합니다"

전국교직원노동조합 대전지부(이하 전교조 대전지부)는 지난 10일 오후 대전시교육청사 앞에서 대전지역 특수교사 30여 명이 참석한 가운데 故 인천학산초 교사 49재 추모식을 개최했다고 밝혔다.   

전국에서 동시에 이뤄진 이번 추모식에서는 '故 인천학산초 특수교사에 대한 순직 인정, 죽음에 대한 철저한 진상 조사 및 책임자 처벌, 특수학급 과밀화 해소 조치, 학급 환경 개선, 특수교사의 행정업무 경감' 등을 요구하는 목소리가 이어졌다.  

이날 전교조 대전지부 추모식에서 현장발언을 진행한 대전맹학교 김덕윤 교사는 "15년 전 목숨을 달리한 모 교사의 죽음을 '왜'라는 질문도 못한 채, 그냥 넘겨버릴 수 밖에 없었던 기억이 있다. 오늘 우리는 또 반복되는 죽음에 대한 추모를 하고 있다"며, "이번이 끝이 아닐까봐, 출구가 보이지 않아서 가슴 한 편이 답답하다"고 말했다. 

김현희 전교조 대전지부장도 “특수교사의 열악한 노동조건을 여실히 보여주는 사회적 타살 사건"이라면서 "격무와 고충의 실체를 밝혀 다시는 교사가 소중한 생명을 잃는 상황이 발생하지 않도록 해야 한다"는 뜻을 전했다.

실제 대전의 특수교육 현장에서도 장애학생과 관련된 모든 사안들을 '특수교사'의 역량과 책임 소재로 돌리는 일이 허다하며,  합의와 근거에 입각한 교육적 조치가 아닌 '민원 회피'를 위해 평교사의 헌신과 희생을 강요하는 일들이 적지 않다는 의견들이 있었다. 

중학교 과정에 근무하고 있는 한 특수교사는 "학교가 민원에서 자유롭기 위해 일부러 학부모와 특수교사 간의 갈등을 조장하는 경우도 있다. '담당 교사가 경력이 짧아서, 특수교사가 이해가 부족해서' 등 교육 현장이 정치판이 아닌데, 왜 제대로 가르치고 싶은 교사와 배우고 싶은 학생, 믿고 싶은 학부모가 서로 생채기를 내게끔 유도하는지 모르겠다"고 말했다. 

대전지역 장애인 부모 단체 소속 학부모 또한 "철저히 내 자녀의 선생님인 특수교사를 보호하면서 요구하는 것이 바탕이 되어야 한다. 신뢰를 구축하기까지 시행착오는 있겠지만, 서로 소통하는 것이 중요하다. 정책적인 부분과 행정적 지원의 문제는 교사가 아닌 교육당국과 교육청, 관리자에게 해야하고, 그 과정에서 선생님의 철저한 보호막이자 지원군이 되어줘야 한다."며 특수교사와 장애학생, 학부모 간 신뢰관계의 중요성을 강조했다.
