대전시는 2025년도 정부예산으로 4조 4,514억 원을 확보했다고 발표했다. 

이는 올해 예산보다 4.1% 증가한 수치로, 민선 8기 후반기 사업 추진에 필요한 기반을 마련한 것으로 평가된다.

이번 예산은 국고보조금 2조 4,094억 원과 지방교부세 등을 포함한 금액으로, 대전시는 국회 심사 기간 동안 여의도에 상주 캠프를 운영하며 국비 확보를 위해 적극적으로 활동했다. 

이장우 대전시장을 비롯한 시 관계자들은 국회 및 관련 부처를 여러 차례 방문하여 여야 정치권과의 협력을 이끌어내며 예산 증액을 이끌어냈다.

주요 예산 항목으로는 도시철도 2호선 트램 건설에 586억 원 ,충청권 광역철도 1단계 건설에 384억 원 ,대덕특구 동측 진입로 개설에 80억 원 등이 포함되어 있으며, 이는 지역 교통망 개선에 기여할 것으로 기대된다. 또한, 신성장 산업과 관련된 사업으로는 ,개방형 양자공정 인프라 구축 ,EUV 검사기 장비 기술 및 인프라 구축 등이 포함되어 있어 지역 경제 활성화와 일자리 창출에 긍정적인 영향을 미칠 것으로 보인다.

그러나 국회에서 일부 증액 예산 심사가 무산되면서 우주산업 클러스터 인력양성 ,웹툰 IP 첨단 클러스터 조성 사업 등 몇몇 사업은 내년도 추진이 보류되었다. 

문화·체육·관광 분야에서도 융복합 특수영상 콘텐츠 클러스터 ,유성시장 재정비촉진지구 온천문화공원 조성 등 다양한 사업이 반영되었으며, 환경 분야에서는 ,제2폐기물 처리시설 조성 ,기후대응도시숲 조성 등이 포함되었다. 보건·복지 분야에서는 생계급여, 기초연금, 의료급여 등 다양한 지원이 계획되어 있다.
