대전시교육청이 전국이중언어말하기 대회에서 초등부와 중등부에서 각각 2명의 학생이 교육부장관상을 수상하고, 중등부 1명이 국가평생교육진흥원 원장상을 수상하는 쾌거를 이루었다고 26일 밝혔다.

이번 대회는 교육부와 ㈜LG가 주최하고 중앙다문화교육센터와 한국외국어대학교가 주관하여 서울 LG사이언스파크에서 진행되었다. 

대회에는 전국 시·도교육청 예선 및 본선 대회를 거친 초등부 27명과 중등부 25명이 참가하여 한국어 및 17개의 언어로 자신의 이야기를 발표했다.

초등부는 자유주제로 모국어와 한국어로 각각 3분씩 발표하였고, 중등부는 자유주제로 모국어와 한국어로 각각 2분씩 발표한 후 2분간 질의·응답하는 형식으로 진행되었다. 

대전시교육청 대표로 참여한 대전문지초등학교의 사누디 학생은 싱할라어로 ‘나의 이중언어 성장 이야기’를, 대전대신중학교의 박사헌 학생은 중국어로 ‘줄탁동시’를, 대덕중학교의 솝다 학생은 몽골어로 ‘인싸 K중학생의 비결’을 주제로 각각 발표하며 관객과 심사위원의 큰 호응을 얻었다.

올해로 12회를 맞이한 전국이중언어말하기 대회는 이주배경학생의 강점인 이중언어를 강화하고, 학생들이 스스로 자신의 진로와 학습 경로를 설계할 수 있도록 지원하는 행사이다.

수상 학생들에게는 글로벌 역량을 기를 수 있도록 LG다문화학교 언어과정에 참여할 기회가 제공될 예정이다.

설동호 대전시교육감은 “전국대회에서 우수한 성과를 거둔 우리 학생들과 지도교사에게 축하를 보낸다”며, “이는 대전시교육청의 이주배경학생을 위한 맞춤형 교육이 작년에 이어 올해도 좋은 성과로 나타난 것으로, 이주배경학생들이 자신의 꿈과 잠재력을 키울 수 있도록 앞으로도 더욱 적극적으로 지원하겠다”고 밝혔다.

Daejeon Metropolitan Office of Education, Excellent Results in National Bilingual Speech Contest...

Daejeon Metropolitan Office of Education announced on the 26th that two students from the elementary and middle school divisions each won the Minister of Education Award at the National Bilingual Speech Contest, and one student from the middle school division won the President of the National Institute for Lifelong Education Award.

This contest was hosted by the Ministry of Education and LG Corp. and organized by the Central Multicultural Education Center and Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, and was held at LG Science Park in Seoul.

27 elementary school students and 25 middle school students who had passed the preliminary and final contests of city and provincial offices of education nationwide participated in the contest and presented their stories in Korean and 17 languages.

Elementary students presented for 3 minutes each in their native language and Korean on a free topic, and middle school students presented for 2 minutes each in their native language and Korean on a free topic, followed by a 2-minute Q&A session.

Sanudi, a student from Daejeon Munji Elementary School who participated as a representative of the Daejeon Metropolitan Office of Education, presented ‘My Bilingual Growth Story’ in Sinhala, Park Sa-heon from Daejeon Daeshin Middle School presented ‘Jultakdongsi’ in Chinese, and Sopda from Daedeok Middle School presented ‘The Secret of the Popular K Middle School Student’ in Mongolian, receiving great responses from the audience and judges.

The National Bilingual Speech Contest, which is now in its 12th year, is an event that strengthens the bilingualism that is the strength of students from immigrant backgrounds and supports students to design their own career paths and learning paths.

The winning students will be given the opportunity to participate in the LG Multicultural School language course to develop global capabilities.

Daejeon Metropolitan Office of Education Superintendent Seol Dong-ho said, “I congratulate our students and their instructors for their excellent performance in the national contest,” and added, “This is because the Daejeon Metropolitan Office of Education’s customized education for students from immigrant backgrounds has shown good results this year as well as last year, and we will continue to actively support students from immigrant backgrounds so that they can develop their dreams and potential.”
